Progress. As society has learned more about gender, there is progress to better accommodate people who don't fit exactly in "M" and "F" genders with an "X" option for gender on US passports. The right-wing response I'd expect is fury, to their shame, showing their inability to understand much and learn.

It is not enough for social cons not to select the gender-neutral option. They bang their high chairs and cry that nobody else have that option, either. This is the level of emotional maturity that they possess.

If selecting an X makes your feel better about your life choices so be it.

Making gender (sex?) on passports optional or simply removing it (as is the case with address) makes little (if any) difference.
