I just have to announce because I am so damned proud. So I have been trying to quit smoking and I always almost quit, but never seem to actually quit entirely. I think I finally did it though. The real litmus test was going out to a bar Friday night and not smoking while I was drinking. I didn't and I really think I am over that last obstacle. Anywho...I just had to announce that!!!

Thanks, aps, for being such a harda$$ about the smoking thing. At least one person was listening to you.

That is awesome!!! Nothing bad can come from stopping so keep the positive attitude you have and you'll be smoke free for life.

Been there.
Life is better without it. It might take you a few months to truly appreciate all the benefits of not having a monkey on your back, but eventually you'll see.
Congrats!

:)

Congratulations. As a militant non-smoker, it always does my heart good to see someone do something that does their heart good.

Congratulations! That's five more years of healthy debating.
If I knew how to make fancy smilies, I'd put one here.

Edit: I figured it out!

If you ever feel like going back, just remember how proud we all were of you, and how shamed we would be if you were to give up, and let us all down. Keep that unhealthy guilt riding on your shoulder, and it will keep you from doing bad things.

Well at least thats how my wife keeps me from going out to bars and getting trashed.

Anyway, I was just kiding congratulations man.

Your hair is going to smell better.

Your teeth are going to look better (I recommend those Crest white strips).

You are going to save lots of $$$ (take the money you would have spent and save it for like 6 months and then go buy something for yourself).

You'll breathe easier, and your breath is going to be MUCH better.

Just when you thought you couldn't get any sexier......

Not sure if the information is accurate, but Ann Landers once printed an article about what your body goes through after you stop smoking. Here it is: Ann Landers, Numbers Don't Lie, Quit Now [04/12/00]

The truth is, I am kind of counting on the guilt to keep me away, but I am not even really having any cravings anymore. It's been very positive seeing all the support that you guys are showing and it makes me glad I made this decision and stuck to it.

Not only the guilt. When you get that nic-fit feeling, focus it into hate, directed at the cigarettes themselves which are trying to reel you back into slavery.

Or go out and run until you're gasping for air, but full of endorphines. That was (is) one of my favorites.

Or, just come on here and talk a bunch of ****.

damn why turn on something thats always been there for you your nicotine friend ahhhhhhh.

No well done just dont become one of those anti smoking facists

That would be kinda hard for me to do since I was raised practically raised on a tobacco farm, LOL.
