I cannot believe Rumsfeld/Meyers/Bush want to see any soldier

And that comment, Fantasea, speaks volumes about you!

Everything appears to be so totally clear cut in your mind - never any middle ground!
Those who have read the history of WWI know that the middle ground between the lines is called 'No Man's Land'.

Or, to put it another way, between the high ground on either side lies the swampland.

Where politics is concerned, compromise means that the stronger side gives in to the weaker side. The idea put forth by the stronger side is watered down to make it more palatable to the weaker side. In the end, a strong idea becomes weak in the implementation. What good is that?

Since the entire House of Representatives and one third of the Senate must stand for reelection every two years, the electorate has frequent opportunities to dump the party in power if the voters don't like the performance of the incumbents.

If the results of the last five elections prove anything, it's that the voters are telling their representatives and senators the direction in which they wish the country to go. Do you disagree with this statement?

The middle ground betwean the lines is called no mans land because that is where you are in the most exposed position. Isn't it sad that for someone to be in the middle they become a target for people on both sides?
