I am sure Trump has a response and recovery plan for this.

Laura now forecast to be a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Hurricane Laura rapidly gained strength on Wednesday, forecast to become an “extremely powerful Category 4 hurricane” when it strikes Texas and Louisiana. Officials implored coastal residents to flee before it’s too late.

Satellite images show Laura’s remarkable intensification into “a formidable hurricane” that can smash homes and sink entire communities with a storm surge reaching as high as 20 feet (6.10 meters), the National Hurricane Center said.

“Some areas, when they wake up Thursday morning, they’re not going to believe what happened,” said Stacy Stewart, a senior hurricane specialist.

Just kidding. Nothing will be done.

You expect him to stop the storm? :lamo

What part of "response and recovery plan" eluded you, Albert Einstein?

How should Trump "respond"? You said response. Don't get pissy because your exact words get challenged .

The response is going to be the same response to every big storm.

Let us hope that it only hits the states and people he cares about. He will not do a thing to help blue states or territories he considers non white, non American, or ****hole.

Whoa! There's some of that Liberal compassion...lol.

This is awesome. Keep going.

As usual, that region will take care of itself versus what happened in New Orleans in 2005.

Of course. The Trump haters expected him to stop a freaking virus. Next, they'll expect him to stop the tides.

FEMA is a two budget agency and it will be up to Congress to fund the recovery, or not. It is not the first responder agency. Primary response will be by state and local governments and the USCG. Interesting enough, telcoms like verizon will be in there before the storms are over reestablishing their infrastructure and will be cutting their way through the mess as well which will help open up roadways.

Okay, that's two people that are having difficulty with the entire concept.

It certainly appears that Mother Nature has had enough of our nonsense.

California is burning. SARS-CoV-2 is still everywhere. Now hurricanes.

What's next?

Flying rats with laser beams on their heads?

It's too late to be reasonable now, dude.

He does have a plan, he's had one all along, and several DP-ers have attempted to say that it's a perfectly logical idea:

Trump: "Nuke the hurricanes to stop them from reaching the US."

"I got it. I got it. Why don't we nuke them?
They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can't we do that?"

Donald Trump

"Apart from the fact that this might not even alter the storm, this approach neglects the problem that the released radioactive fallout would fairly quickly move with the tradewinds to affect land areas and cause devastating environmental problems. Needless to say, this is not a good idea."
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration online fact sheet

The ignorance is wilful at this point.

Or dishonestly pretending it is, as in this case.

I am taking them at face value, since that is clearly what they want.

Why is a storm a federal responsibility and a viral pandemic not one?

Why isn't it the governor's responsibility?

By what logic is there a distinction between a storm and a virus that has impacted every single state?

Whoa! There's some of that Liberal compassion...lol.

Kinda sucks that "liberal compassion" is hoping that only people he will help are impacted.

And you are apparently fine if people who don't support him are left literally swinging in the wind.

He thinks the only way to respond to a hurricane even is to "stop the hurricane".

This is special.

In what order does an event and a response to the event occur?

I am recognizing his lack of compassion. Puerto Rico is still suffering. If it hits only red states, Trump will help his people.

My how your standards have sunk on Presidential response to disasters.

While I don't necessarily fault the government in its response to the disaster, I do fault Obama for his campaign-style response to the people who are affected.

Empty promises...that's all he has...that's all he's ever had.

Like the lady in the video, a boatload of Americans have been suckered by his empty promises and...like the lady in the video...they will be angry when they realize it.

We've gotten to the point where we don't expect Obama to do anything except think about himself, so it doesn't bother us anymore when he does just that.

We are just hoping he doesn't "do" anything more until the White House door smacks him on the backside one last time.

Of course, Obama isn't going to hold himself to his promise, is he? He'll find someone...or something...to blame.

It's Bush's fault.

It's the Republican's fault.

It's Congress's fault.

It's Japan's fault.

It's Egypt's fault.

It's those damned earthquakes, tornados and hurricanes.

But it won't be HIS fault.

Remember when you thought it would be okay for libs to lose their minds if the government response to a national disaster is subpar?

The water won't be distributed until MONDAY. Wake up and read the OP, sir. Monday will be what? 7 days since landfall?? FEMA is buying water AFTER landfall and it won't be distributed until landfall +7?

If a Republican were prez, what with all this going on, the Libbos would be losing their minds over this; as well they should. The hypocrisy comes in when they don't hold Obama to the same standard.
