Ok I went to bed last light with the comforting knowledge that hurricane Ernesto would hit somewhere near Texas.
Now this morning it’s changed course and its forecasted to come right over us. So much for my lazy Sunday of doing nothing..I guess I really have to take down the xmas lights now...;)

All the preps are finished...
1. The lawn furniture is locked up in storage.
2. The generator is fueled and ready to be plugged in. (with outside vent)
3. Food, water and pet food to last a week or two.
4. Run kit at the front door.
Both the car and the truck are topped off and ready to go.
5. Gas grill with two full tanks, Chainsaw, ladder, ropes and tarps and tar are sitting in the garage.
6. 250 sandbags left over from hurricane Charlie and Fran.

All that’s left is to take the Flag and flagpole down tonight.

Gotta love hurricane season in Florida..;)

Well be safe! After watching all that New Orleans coverage I'm convinced what you need to lilve down south is a a small motorized boat, cash, and a gun.

Thanks. News just said it was only 60-70 mph winds for us, it’s the 6-12 tornados that spin off the damn thing that worry me....

a boat is necessary for Florida...for fun...;)

The stuff in N.O is what you get when
you live in a fish bowl, below sea level at that....

It is now expected to be on top of us (Orlando) at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. I've just heard that the schools are closed tomorrow. Boy, the kids will be so upset.

Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season
***************************Jimmy Buffett

Squalls out on the gulf stream,
Big storms coming soon.
I passed out in my hammock,
God, I slept way past noon.
Stood up and tried to focus,
I hoped I wouldn't have to look far.
I knew I could use a Bloody Mary,
So I stumbled next door to the bar.

And now I must confess,
I could use some rest.
I can't run at this pace very long.
Yes, it's quite insane,
I think it hurts my brain.
But it cleans me out and then I can go on.

There's something about this Sunday
It's a most peculiar gray
Strolling down the avenue
That's known as A1A
I was feeling tired, then I got inspired.
And I knew that it wouldn't last long
So all alone I walked back home, sat on my beach
And then I made up this song.

Well, the wind is blowin' harder now
Fifty knots of there abouts,
There's white caps on the ocean.
And I'm watching for water spouts
It's time to close the shutters
It's time to go inside.
In a week I'll be in gay Paris;
That's a mighty long airplane ride.

Yes, It cleans me out and then I can go on.

Good luck you guys. Stay safe and dry. My thoughts are with you.

Just leave 'em up. They'll blow up into Arkansas and hopefully land on the Clinton Library where they'll be eternally grateful for the esthetic improvement.

Oh great. A thread about the fricken weather and well wishers gets spun into a hate Clinton/liberals/democrats thread.

These people.....I tell ya......

I spent all day Monday moving my sailboat out of the docks and anchoring it in a hurricane hole. "Hurricane" Ernesto came thru, there was hardly enough wind to fly a kite. But what the hell, I'm not going to complain.

Glad all you guys came through OK.

The storm was very overhyped. I was at Myrtle beach yesterday and all it did was rain and make big waves. It was fun

We had some sprinkles and a light breeze.....and I didn't get to go home early. :(

But now it's time for well wishes to be sent up Georgia/SC way.

All.... my thoughts and prayers for your safety. Hopefully Ernesto will simply fizzle out.

Had I been there I would have been surf fishing for Bull Reds. They really go nuts near the shore prior to hurricanes. One this mild would have made for GREAT fishing.

Lets just keep things in perspective.

1) "Hurricane" Ernesto was a Tropical Storm NOT a Hurricane.
2) In my life time I can remember when school was open during a T-Storm.
3) T-Storm is nothing more than a longer normal Storm.
4) I've seen worse normal Storms.
