Well it sucks when you get no doves.

So far only got one dove since the start of the season, the area I have to hunt in is so covered in cedar you can not see those bastards early enough, and they do flyby's fast enough where you have a second or two to respond and fire or you ain't getting nothing.

It is bad enough that I am going to scope out wma land near the lake open for hunting tomorrow, as the private land I am hunting on is ok for deer, but terrible for doves. Prior to this I used to use an old muffler shop surrounded by cornfields, there I usually hit atleast half the bag limit on a bad day, where I am at now for hunting I might be lucky if I hit the daily bag limit of 15 hunting all season.

BEcause pigeons are city doves, no good, and canadian geese are flying gangstas, they might pop a cap back at me they are so mean.


Also it is not goose season here yet. Also doves can be like the rainbow in flavor, I have eaten dove you would swear is beef and dove you would think tastes like gamey chicken, and everything inbetween as it varies wildly depending on their diet(the beef tasting ones were all cornfed because the cornfields near the muffler shop)

You can shoot them down here, but only during season, mand around here seing geese is rare as most of them never pass through the area when migrating.

We have geese crossing signs they are so plentiful...an annoying.

The lake at the end of my road used to have Canadian geese all summer long at it. They crossed the road, crapped all over the place, and generally were a pain.


Funny, they all went away when the bald eagles moved in.

I shot a deer once and did not really enjoy he experience. And I'm not fond of venison. Now wild boar, which are becoming abundant around here, are delicious.

One of our nephews is in the North of Sweden right now hunting inedible bear. His job is saving life, not taking it - he's a paramedic.

venison is awesome!!!!!! Boar I like but am not a fan of hunting unless I can get numbers, as the boar in texas are sometimes too scrawny to have enough meat, makes it a chore to gut and clean them to end up with almost no usable meat vs a deer, sometimes them boar have plenty of meat on them, but it seems they are on farms where farmers scream they are destroying the crops, but after that want to charge 1300 a day for the priviledge of hunting the pests, in which nearly every sane texas hunter says must not be a pest if we need to pay to get rid of them.

Fort hood is the only area nearby with decent hogs and without price gouging by greedy farmers, but they are very restricted on hunting, they allow civiliand and military to hunt, but everything must be registered through the provost marshal, and many extra permits for use of area, as well of knowledge of the area ie some of the hunting and fishing areas are also used for training or artillery, meaning you must check with the post before you go there to avoid a serious incident like injury or interupted training followed by a massive fine.

I am not a hunter, but unfortunately, feral pigs are a bit of a problem in my area.....not as bad as Texas, but they are still pretty destructive, which has forced me to thin the numbers a bit.

The upside to taking them down is the meat is quickly donated.
