Well the way you describe it...letting then get around you is clearly a violation. I certainly would have had the gun in play before I was surrounded. You would have too. The addendum you need to make is that they surrounded me by surprise. At least that is what it appears.

In a being surrounded situation...I would hope to drop 1 fast and catch them off guard.
