Humans waging 'suicidal war' on nature

To where it seriously affects our environment which we are seeing. Its not good. Australia couldnt do controlled burnings to prevent wildfires because climate change shortened the period they were able to do so.
The climate changes, if Humans are here are not, and separating out the Human contribution is more difficult that it appears.
What we can say for sure is that CO2 levels have increased, and Humans played a part in some of that increase.
If the concept of the greenhouse gas theory is correct, Human increases in CO2 will cause exactly the same change in energy imbalance as natural change in CO2 levels,
roughly 3.71 Watts per meter squared. I have had trouble finding how they derived that number, but I think I know now.
Earth is claimed to be 33C warmer than it would be if the atmosphere were transparent, because of a total imbalance of 150 W m-2.
Of this 20% or 30 W m-2 is said to be from CO2.
Starting at 1 ppm, it would take 8.09 doubling s to get to 280 ppm. This would give each doubling a value of 30 W m-2/8.09=3.708 W m-2.

Well - given that fossil fuels pollute in their extraction, pollute in their refinement, pollute in their transportation and storage, and certainly pollute in their use, it would seem that getting rid of all fossil fuel use would be worthy goal - at least for any educated adult.
So tell us then, Mr. Adult Education, how would container ships bring cargo from one country to the next without fossil fuels?

Too much (CO2) of anything in nature can upset the equilibrium of the environment.
Yeah, like record crop growths since CO2 is plant food!

Please - spare us the sarcastic nonsense questions. I said it would be a worthy goal. Not that it's readily achievable anytime soon.
But as any adult would know, fossil fuel is finite and, as such, unsustainable. It's time to stop being myopic and plan for a future that includes human life on earth 100+ years from now - and moreover one that reduces the manifold toxicity that is inherently dumped on us by the continued use of fossil fuels. It's time to grow up and look to some horizon beyond our own direct offspring.

Another advocate of the neo-luddite green energy scam that wants to get rid of all fossil fuels. The UN is full of them.

That doesn't make sense because the green tech is more advanced.

Unsustainable? Oil has powered most of our machines for more than a hundred years-why? Because it works.

That doesn't make sense because the green tech is more advanced.
What a silly statement. Solar power doesnt operate when there isnt any sunlight and wind farms dont work if there isnt any wind-its a costly, inferior tech.

I won't be baited by stupidity. Fossil fuel is unsustainable because IT IS FINITE !!

So you need to stop looking in the mirror then.

LOL so you have the secret to an infinite fuel source? Please tell us what it is.

There are lots of them. Hydrogen for large engines will probably be one of the sources in our future. Byproduct of combustion is water.

Farmers returning from World War I and World War II took better care of their land than we take care of this planet.

And then the baby boomers, the spoiled brats, took over and did an Animal House on it. And they exploded our debt.

Luddites reject the more advanced technology, not the more basic. Your statement was stupid.

Let us know when a container ship is fully powered by hydrogen, okay?

Green energy is luddism and so is organic farming. Show me a solar plant that works at night.

Solar panels are more advanced than the combustion engine. Thus, a luddite would prefer the latter. You may be underestimating the potential complexity of organic farming. When degrees in various sciences inform the project, it's kinda more advanced than spraying chemicals on sand.

Yes - and it's no secret at all. For any intent and purpose, solar, wind, geothermal, wave power, hydro electric . . . . . are ALL infinite energy sources. Unlike oil, there is no point in our future on this planet when they will cease to be available. None. Zero. What don't you get about that? And what else don't you get?

Seriously, why are you persisting in stupid questions? Why? What's your motive? Is your portfolio filled with fossil fuel stocks?

“Our supplies of natural resources are not limited in any economic sense. Nor does past experience give reason to expect natural resources to become more scarce. Rather, if history is any guide, natural resources will progressively become less costly, hence less scarce, and will constitute a smaller proportion of our expenses in future years.”

The late Julian Simon was a great and thoughtful economist who famously won a bet about commodity prices with Paul Ehrlich.

Julian Lincoln Simon (February 12, 1932 – February 8, 1998) was an American professor of business administration at the University of Maryland and a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute at the time of his death, after previously serving as a longtime economics and business professor at the University of Illinois at ...

“This is my long-run forecast in brief:
The material conditions of life will continue to get better for most people, in most countries, most of the time, indefinitely. Within a century or two, all nations and most of humanity will be at or above today's Western living standards.
I also speculate, however, that many people will continue to think and say that the conditions of life are getting worse.”

LOL claiming solar energy is more advanced than dependable fossil fuels is like wearing a sundial as a wristwatch instead of a battery powered one. Its a backward step.

Solar only works when there is sunlight, wind only works when there is wind, and hydro electric only works when there is a river around. They are not dependable power sources that can work at all times. Southern California is experiencing blackouts because of their moronic insistence on using this crap.

Seriously, why are you persisting in stupid questions? Why? What's your motive? Is your portfolio filled with fossil fuel stocks?
Its clear that your renewable pipe dream is inefficient and cannot handle the needed power loads that a society needs. So all your views are downright moronic.

You're comments are too ignorant for words. Unlike oil, we will never run out of sunshine, we will never run out of wind, we will never run out of geothermal heat, we will never run out of hydro, and only the impenetrably dense believe they all have to be available everywhere, at all times, for a power grid to work. Hint: They don't !! And who knows what other sustainable technologies wait to be developed around the corner, as the idiots evolve into responsible life forms and finally stop poisoning the planet by burning fossil fuels.

Admit it. You must have had a hard time as a child doing those connect-the-dot pictures.

Thank you - I saw this the first time you posted it at #41

Spoken by someone, who never put in a septic drain field.
The grass is actually greener over the drain field!

There is a assumption that CO2 is pollution, when plants do better with higher levels of CO2.
We have an energy problem, not a CO2 problem. addressing our energy problem,
will solve any issues with added CO2 as a side effect.

Ever hear of "brain asphyxia?"

It happens when humans find themselves in an environment with too high a concentration of CO2, even if there is ample oxygen to breathe. Not only do we require a set amount of atmospheric oxygen, we also don't do very well when the concentration of CO2 gets too high.

We run out of sunshine every evening. When there is no wind then wind farms dont work. And there can be no geothermal if there arent rivers strong enough to turn the turbines.

Any educated adult with common sense would have figured it out, but not you it seems.

And guess what, to build all these solar panels, wind turbines and electric cars, you'd have to mine for rare earth metals, and that will definitely poison the land even moreso than it would for fossil fuels like oil.

Of course, anyone with an ounce of logic could have figured this out, but hey, its you we're talking to here.
