The United States is claiming that the chief financial officer of Chinese tech giant Huawei covered up violations of sanctions on Iran, according to Canadian prosecutors.
Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested in Vancouver and faces extradition to the United States, is believed to have helped Huawei circumvent US sanctions by telling financial institutions that a Huawei subsidiary was a separate company, prosecutors said at a hearing Friday to determine whether Meng should be released on bail.
Her lawyer said that she has ties to Canada and is not a flight risk. The judge, after hearing arguments from Meng's lawyer and prosecutors, did not rule on bail. The hearing will resume Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

IMO, we should grant her bail and see if she runs. China looked the other way while presumably on behalf of the Chinese government, she created a shell company and using it to shipping banned technology to Iran. China has gotten the idea that the US and the west are so weak we will not enforce sanctions and are too weak to stand up to China. This may be a metaphor of sorts for China ignoring the deal it made with Trump about North Korea, when not 30 days later, Chinese ships were shown via satellite to be off loading freight to NK. China has to change from a rogue economy to an honest one if it want's to continue doing business under US trade deals.

China's reaction? Release her "or else". "Grave consequences".

GFYS China. Play by the rules or don't play at all. So I guess we can expect hostages to be taken? If China does, they will have fallen into Trumps trap of making people go completely irrational and off the rails, thereby making his point for him - that China is a dark, communist prison planet.

NOTE: My lack of faith in the elites make me suspect DoJ timed this to screw with Trump's trade deal with XI. It's time to get a new AG in there to get on the same page.
