Ex-Diamond Uber driver here. Worked for Uber and Lyft (as a Platinum driver) for 10 months actively, 8 months really, before realizing enough was enough.

Dealt with death threats, hit and runs, insurance fraud, tons of downratings for literally no reason, hookers, drug dealers, drug users, relentless gossip and drama, false reports, dashcam neglect, 4 flat tires in 5 months, etc. Did the 120 mph mad dash to the hospital with a mother in labor as well as plenty of 100mph+ runs for people desperate to catch a flight.

95-99% of passengers are good, but that 1-5% will ruin you.

I was on the top of my state across multiple cities. Did the 2-3 hour trips 2-3 times per week out of 30 trips per day, 200 trips per week. Made $30/hr regularly, $2k per week after expenses, maxed out at over 100 hours a few weeks and made $3k per week in those. Longest workday was 36 hours straight. Put 80k miles on my new car in one year, and was told when I tried to trade it in for a used 2018 BMW that my car literally had 4 times as many miles as the second most driven car in the whole world of the same year, make, and model whether in North America, Europe, or Far East.

My insurance went from $750 over 6 months for a platinum Allstate package to $1100 for 6 months with a third rate company to include the TNC endorsement. Not once did the company investigate an incident with a passenger or another driver among the 3 police reports I had and 9 passenger reports.

I also lived in Airbnbs while working for the companies from how hypermobile it was. I had one host's review removed for being irrelevant after I was stabbed in the back while staying among other dirty guests. Another host advertised their property on the very bottom as being near a railroad. I took that as being a light rail line since it was 5 minutes away from downtown. Turned out to be a freight train line blaring in the middle of the night. I had no clue how that neighborhood was even zoned residential nevermind how the property was eligible to host on the service.

I'm also a former pay to publish political commentator with Purple Pill. It's an app that gave both sides a say on current events. The editors loved me (before I had to take a break to make sure I made enough at the end of last year to pay my taxes), especially from my take on transgender issues which argued that they were a ploy for manipulation of offer and acceptance in contract law since only one of every 20,000 to 80,000 has gonad deformation whether it's Klinefelter or Swyer Syndrome. The real issue there is how consumerism is lazy marketing. It prefers to simply mix and match existing ideas, not come up with new ones, so it revels in the drama of appearing to be something, but turning out to be something else to get away with messing up quality control and assurance, and having poor quality customer service as well as selling lemons.

My general take on politics is unique. Different people believe in different beliefs for the same motive, and different people believe in the same belief for different motives. People will flip flop beliefs to advocate their motive behind those beliefs, and will manipulate the social chemistry of their own movement just to advance their motivation among social hierarchies. Divide and conquer tactics are common place so people with the same motive on different sides of the political spectrum will lead movements while getting other motivations to do their dirty work.

I don't really like debating politics straight up because of this. There are ulterior motives everywhere, and people with compatible motives will often laugh at others on their own side for falling for the opposition's ambushes. Negligence is rampant these days when it comes to really acting to protect others within the same movement. Instead, charismatic pragmatism runs the real show. People are biased towards good looks, humor, and power because people are extraordinarily whimsical, shallow, stubborn, and lazy. They don't even want to be bothered reading the law to understand how due process works to uphold rights and responsibilities.

In my world, you wouldn't get the right to vote until you graduated public education, and public education would abide by the following:

"Government shall not legislate more than it's willing to educate. Otherwise, it will alienate those it seeks to regulate."

IOW, the government would only be allowed to pass as many laws as it's willing to teach the people to understand. That way, people wouldn't be compelled to walk across a legal lake of thin ice...

...but my world isn't the world we live in. We live in an anarcho-capitalist world where private investigators, bodyguards, and lawyers are everything. Yea, you pay taxes for the police, but only 11% of serious crimes result in an arrest, and 2% result in a conviction: https://theconversation.com/police-solve-just-2-of-all-major-crimes-143878

Anyway, that's who I am.

Hello, XDU! Welcome to DP!

It sounds like you'll make some pretty interesting discussions around here.

We have all kinds here--liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, independents, communists, socialists, libertarians, space aliens, Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, manicurists, Air Force, and someone who can do an uncanny impression of Dustin Hoffman singing. "My Wild Irish Rose."

Roll up your sleeves (if you're wearing any), read the rules, and hop right in!

Hah.

Mark Twain once said that there are no dialogues, only intersecting monologues. It's like we're all from another planet.

:)

What a hello! Welcome to DP.
Only took a uber once.
Take a quick look at the rules and
post away.

What kind of trip was it? Airport run? Hotel run? Restaurant run?

Thank God you survived! Welcome.
