Ukraine: Watching the war on Russian TV - a whole different story​

Quite predictably it's "Ukraine's fault" and "Ukraine is Fascist". And every news about Russian hardware being destroyed are Western lies, and also that Kharkiv is shelled by Russia is apparently a "lie", it's actually Ukraine hitting it's own city.
Of course Russia's attempt to control the information flow is hard, with many Russians getting their information from the internet rather than traditional media. This is why the Kreml propaganda machine focus so much on calling facts "fake news" and "western propaganda", because they know the truth is spreading so instead of hiding it, it's now an example of the evil fake narrative of Russia's "fascist enemies".

Thank you for getting back to the thread with something I can use to segue from. I think this topic is fascinating and would like to get back into it and away from distractions.

I don't think comrade really works for Russia and its state media these days, having a very different character and culture then they did from the early 90s or before. Russia is more of a totalitarian state these days and its interesting to watch their control of the media.

However, the younger generation seems to see the situation for what it is (at least in general). What are your thoughts on the Russian propaganda on its population, do you think it is effective?
