Gun Laws Signed By Obama - How Many There Are
How Many Gun Laws Did Obama Sign?

… “List and Explanation of Gun Control Bills …”

“Barack Obama has been called the "most anti-gun president in American history." Fears that Obama would try to ban guns fueled record sales of weapons during his presidency. But how many gun laws did Obama sign? And did any of them actually place restrictions on gun owners?..............

…………During his first term Obama didn't call for any major new restriction on guns or gun owners. Instead he urged authorities to enforce the state and federal laws already on the books.
In fact, Obama signed only two major laws that address how guns are carried in America, and both actually expand the rights of gun owners………….

In fact, Obama signed only two major laws that address how guns are carried in America, and both actually expand the rights of gun owners.

One of the laws allows gun owners to carry weapons in national parks; that law took effect in February 2012 and replaced President Ronald Reagan's policy of required guns be locked in glove compartments of trunks of car that enter national parks.

Another gun law signed by Obama allows Amtrak passengers to carry guns in checked baggage, a move that reversed a measure put in place after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001……………

Now who was it that warned yall about the Obama plan to confiscate all guns? He’s coming for your guns they said……….

And warned all gun owners "If Barack Obama wins a second term in office, our Second Amendment freedom will not survive. Obama will never have to face the voters again, and will therefore be unleashed to push the most extreme elements of his gun-ban agenda to every corner of America."

what a stupid question. Obama used executive orders to prevent highly collectible obsolete military rifles that our tax dollars paid for from being brought back into the USA for collectors to buy. The turd in chief claimed that he "didn't want these weapons of war" on our streets EVEN THOUGH the former FEDERAL AGENCY known as the Dept. of Civilian Marksmanship sold millions of these rifles and the accompanying MI Carbine to US civilians (JFK bought one btw) for decades and the amount of them used in crime was infinitesimally small

Obama knew he couldn't impose his desired gun control schemes at once or his party would take the same ass kicking it took in 94. So like a good Alinskyite acolyte he has moved slowly towards the goal so as not to alarm some of the sheeple. But his selections of Sotomayor, Kagan and now his current nominee are all anti gun lefties.

Only the most ignorant don't understand what Obama is saying when he praised Australian and English gun control "solutions"

here is the real question that should be asked

would Obama move to ban large numbers of guns if he knew or believed that he and his party would not suffer politically for such a ban?

lets see if YOU can answer that question

This is not the first time anti-2nd amendment trash spewed this nonsense. Basically anti-2nd amendment trash act as though Obama throwing a few bread crumbs makes him a friend of the 2nd amendment and somehow it is supposed to negate his anti-2nd amendment executive orders, the anti-2nd amendment laws he tried to enact at the state level and the anti-2nd amendment laws he is now trying to enact at the federal level anytime there is a mass shooting. Its like trying to argue Ted Bundy is a good person because he helped a old lady cross the street.

Obama would not know the constitutional rights of the public. He has shown no evidence of that and contrary to his and your belief he is not above the law, constitution or people.

The opposition to Obama by NRA supporters is based far far more about simple hatred of Democrats and progressives than it is on any actual law or policy the Obama administration has brought forth. It is simply a bunch of right wing conservatives demonstrating contempt for someone perceived as being on the other side of the political divide.

1) record gun sales reported almost every month
2) reports of ammo shortages from people wanting to "stock up" for the impending "revolution" or zombie attack or whatever...

2015 All Time Gun Sales Records
The FBI processed a record number of firearms-related background checks last year, indicating that more guns were sold in 2015 than in any previous year in American history.

Forbes Welcome

The shortage became so severe that rumors spread over Internet that the federal government was buying up ammo to purposely cause the shortages. There was so much paranoia

They all came to the conclusion that consumer demand—fueled by record high gun sales—was behind the shortages.

The bottom line here is so simple it's staggering.

Obama has actually been the BEST thing to EVER happen to the NRA, and the gun industry in general.

The facts are as plain as day.

Gun makers, gun lovers, the NRA, and all those who support and/or make a living off the gun industry should be wearing thank you patches with Obama's face on it and sporting Obama tattoos and such. An official thank you Obama parade should be planned before he leaves office.

Wrong...

More and more democrats are buying guns these days. The gap between the republican and democrat gun ownership is closing.

Just because more Democrats own guns, doesn't mean they suddenly agree with Republicans on gun policy.

If you took the time to read the post that I was replying to, It would be quite obvious as to what I was referring to.

There has been a increase of democrat gun ownership as well.

There has been a increase of democrat gun ownership as well.

Which of course is what MOST of us have been saying all along.

Simply being a Dem/Lib does not equate to "we want to ban all gunz".

(I say that as someone who does not identify as a dem/lib)

Also, the number of people who actually want to "ban all guns" is ridiculously small. Basically so small it's insignificant on most levels.

Many guns nuts, and some of them are here at DP, would have you believe upwards of 50% of Americans want to "ban all guns".

That's just NOT true.

It takes only a basic understanding of our system of government to understand that narrowly defining a Presidents action on any domestic or foreign issue SINGULARLY on what bills they signed, ignoring the vast amount of executive oversight on regulation/enforcement/etc that the presidents wields that impacts various things, is a fruitless and dishonestly hollow attempt at making an argument.

During his two terms, Obama has only had a limited period of time when he would have been able to get his Democratically-controlled Congress to propose, pass and send him laws to sign. Unfortunately...for him...he squandered his chance of doing any of that when he pissed off the People by using that opportunity to shove Obamacare down our throats. I don't think he was expecting the shellacking the Democrats would be getting and figured he'd get around to gun control later...except later never came for him. After that shellacking Republican control of portions of Congress prevented him from getting any laws on his desk for him to sign...though that didn't prevent him from trying to get laws and...when that failed...using executive actions to get as much gun control as he could.

So, imyoda, your thread topic is pretty much a spin-job that won't impress anybody who is not a left-wing hack and who has just a little bit of brains that lets them understand reality.

This is absolute misleading garbage.

Obama will end finishing his two terms where the last 6 of his 8 years in office is in dealing with at least a Republican controlled House, with the last 4 an entirely Republican controlled Congress. The 111th Congress was perhaps Obama's only opportunity to pass gun laws, but we had other more pressing economic concerns and foreign affairs matters to deal with at the time. Besides those two subjects, Obama and Democrats used their capital to pass ACA and financial reform. Once Republicans took the 112th Congressional House there was no opportunity for Obama to get something through no matter what else happened. Made even worse by the 113th and present 114th Congress all Republican controlled.

So, Obama making gun control a "second term issue" was all for not.

Also, just because there was not political opportunity to pass new gun laws does not mean that executive action was not taken. Others in this thread have already hinted at what was done, no matter how minor in the grand scheme of things.

What you do not have is an effective solid argument that Obama did not sign gun laws because of political desire not to, but because there was not chance of a complicit Congress helping his anti-gun agenda of which Obama has spoken about frequently. Using everything from the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, to the Colorado theater shooting, to Sandy Hook and others.

It all became an issue of political rhetoric.

They are of the mindset that their fellow Liberals do not own guns, proof that they have never been to Texas nor do they know all that many Liberals. Every Liberal I know owns more than a few guns, as I do, in their mind they would be considered and arsenal. There many good reasons for a person to own a gun, but if some people do not want to own them for whatever reasons that is their Right, so long as they do not attempt to remove my Right to own them we have no problem.

I find it very strange that the democrats that are against guns and want to ban them because they believe guns kill , have no problem with tobacco and we know tobacco KILLS ! The only purpose for tobacco is to kill ! I guess the tobacco lobbyist own this guys .
