Here's the gist: Thanks to a combination extremely generous subsidies extended even to families making comfortable middle incomes and relatively weak employer penalties, it may be cheaper for employers to drop coverage. In addition, the value of the subsidies may be effectively greater for many employees than the coverage they would have gotten through their employers. Liberal supporters of the bill will no doubt say that's exactly the point—to provide more valuable coverage to those in lower and middle incomes.

There are rumors that my company (which I will not name) is debating in dropping our insurance benefits. Thanks alot assholes!

well the answer to your question is obvious: over time, every one of them that wants to survive.

And that is precisely what Obama and Co WANTS to happen.

Obama cares for us and wants us to work together as a collective, but its so difficult because the Fat Cats on wall street keep up their assault on the middle class, and the right wing news keep fear mongering making it again so difficult for our brilliant commander in chief. And those Tea people keep complaining. Its not fair!

yup. that's why they told their supporters that this was the best way to get to a single-payer. you can't just replace what is generally a good system with what is generally a poor one; you have to destroy the good one first, so people will accept single-payer as a 'necessary' measure 'to deal with the crises'. never let a good crises go to waste, and when crises refuse to materialize, don't be afraid to create one.

This is a joke right?

I'm not sure that it's so black and white. Employers will probably modify their group plans according to what the basic, mandatory/public plan will offer. It would reduce costs to employers, for sure.

It's unfortunate that the health care bill basically forces all Americans to buy insurance from private companies. It puts individuals and employers at their mercy.
