Miscarriage. "God's" abortion.
Happens quite often.

https://www.verywellfamily.com/when-do-most-miscarriages-occur-2371739

Current evidence backs up this older study, suggesting that anywhere between 8 and 20 percent of recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage and 30 to 40 percent of all conceptions end in miscarriage.

"God" aborts 30-40% of all pregnancies.

I assume though that god is allowed to "kill babies" like that because "he" works in mysterious ways?

A miscarriage isn't "God's abortion". That's just insane. It's a miscarriage. No god stuck a need in a girl and tore a baby apart. The pregnancy didn't make it to term due to biological and/or environmental factors. Shocking news, I know.

God terminated the pregnancy. It's just that simple.

There is no possible value to this discussion, a miscarriage or "stillbirth" has nothing to do with an abortion decision.

Has everything to do with "god" though.

According to many, "god" is responsible for everything. Life. Death. Election winners and losers. Everything.

So if god wanted all pregnancies to turn out living breathing babies, there would be no miscarriages.

So obviously, "god" intends to end 30-40% of all pregnancies. God aborts the pregnancy.

It is a lackluster debate at best.

Those that put that kind of faith in God have an explanation for things like this that is based on a sort of trust (for lack of a better way to put it) in not really understanding why the miscarriage or stillbirth occurred but also not holding God responsible in a manner they would hold a person responsible for making the choice to abort. "God's plans" and "God's ways are beyond us" and all sort of other comments along those lines.

It is kin to those that take faith to the extreme not wanting human intervention with a sick child putting faith in whatever happens being "God's plan." That is just one example to illustrate a point about what faith means in adversarial terms to what reason tells us.

Regardless the whole debate ends up an inflammatory emotional mess.

You are never going to get those who put that sort of faith in a religion to align "God's will" with a person's choice.

Let's suppose you're correct. God also says he flooded the earth and only keep 1 guy(and his family) alive. You think then, that it's allowed to kill people? Maybe you believe this, but I don't.

This is truly a stupid thread. You don't believe God exists to begin with, and then you want to claim what god is or isn't responsible for. At least do the studies necessary about man's nature, and the nature of god, before making such claims. Even a child knows that God has his realm of responsibility, and we have ours. And one of our responsibilities is not to kill people, While God's responsibilities is to decide who gets to be created, and who doesn't.

That's what the "god people" say. Yes.

Sounds like a lot of god supported incest too doesn't it? How else would the world get repopulated?

So the bottom line is that if you believe in god, you believe god is just fine and dandy with killing lots and lots of people.
And fetuses.

You don't believe in God, so why are you trying to externalize personal responsibility?

You don't believe in God, so why are you trying to externalize personal responsibility?

Because this:

The vast majority of those who wish to make abortion 100% illegal use the "god" argument.

Yes?

If people are going to use "god" as the reason why abortion should be illegal, they should own up to the fact that "god" aborts with very high regularity.

Pretty simple.

So tell me, since you're a believer, does god terminate pregnancies?

The vast majority of miscarriages occur in the first trimester. About 50 percent of all first trimester miscarriages are because of chromosomal abnormalities. This can occur more frequently in women who are considered advanced maternal age, or greater than 35 years old at pregnancy term. The chromosomal abnormalities would create very damaged babies. God is merciful to the parents.

Some miscarriages occur later. Most of these are due to infections. Uterus or cervix infections can be dangerous to a developing baby and lead to miscarriage. Other infections that may pass to the baby or placenta can also affect a developing pregnancy and may lead to loss.

Some of these infections include:

listeria
parvovirus B19
toxoplasma gondii
rubella
herpes simplex
cytomegalovirus

If a woman’s uterus didn’t form correctly when she was developing, it may be unable to support a healthy pregnancy.

There are also clotting disorders. Clotting disorders are conditions that cause your body to form more blood clots than normal. Examples include lupus anticoagulant and antiphospholipid syndrome.

In the case of pregnancy, blood clots can form in the placenta. This prevents nutrition and oxygen from getting to the baby-to-be, and prevents waste from being carried away.

Very few if any cases have been attributed to divine intervention, by science investigation.

In terms of abortion, none of these physiological factors need apply. Even healthy babies forming inside clean and healthy mothers are game to abortion all the way to birth in some states. That is definitely not the work of God, but humans trying to play god; divine right of the king; big government, to kill.

Except in reality, the way many religious people think, is that anything good that happens in their life was god's doing .Why take credit for you digging through tough times, just give god all the credit. of course, all death, diseases, and natural disasters that happens, that's not god's fault of course. has nothing to do with god.

Only if you strawman religions. If it is True, that God is fine with PEOPLE murdering other people, then you would have to explain why he explicitly forbids us from doing so!

God is the creator of the world. He gets to decide on what basis a soul should or shouldn't come into being. God is not a man. His responsibility isn't to preserve life, that's our responsibility. He can take life whenever he damn well pleases because he's God, and he created heaven and earth, and us. Just like you can decide whether or not you want to plant, or cut down, a tree, because its your tree on your property. God can decide what soul gets created or not, its all his creation. Someone else's soul, or life, doesn't belong to you.

Stop playing the "i know nothing about religion" game. You know better than this. Our souls belong to god. No other person's soul belong to someone else. That's why we are forbidden from murder, while God, the creator of our souls, has every right to decide how long we live or whether we live at all!

Using that 'logic', since God (or god - for those hypersensitive to the capital letter God) kills everyone so why all the fuss over homicide?

Precisely why using "god" to formulate and enforce laws is not the logical path to take.

But if hurricanes and forest fires are god's way of punishing sinners, get my drift?

5 people involved in a horrific car accident. 4 die.

Thousands say "god performed miracle in saving that one person".

Nobody asks "why god killed the other four?"
