...some court rules that certain church rules, such as those that forbid women from becoming priests, violate anti-discrimination laws?

Guesses?

If a court does ever rule such a thing, forcing a church to accept women as priests, will you agree/disagree with said ruling?

Strongly disagree. If any court ever ruled that, it would be overturned by the Supreme Court. I doubt it'll ever happen though...at least not in the foreseeable future.

If it does happen, my guess is . . . 9th Circuit.

Sometimes I think they do the batshit nutty things they do simply because they know they're going to be overruled.

Some court will rule something like this in 30, 40 years, and it'll be overturned pretty quickly. I wouldn't support it. It's ridiculous.

I think it is something the church needs to do on itself and not be forced to do it. The church really needs to get out of the past and start living in the future. Such as taking away the celibacy laws, for example.

But anyway back on topic I could see some crazy judge trying to do this sometime in the near future. Maybe he or she just wants to make a point. As stated though I think it would get shot down almost immediatly.

Hey, there's nothing wrong if females save themself for marriage and stir the soup from time to time.

:2razz:

doing something like this would be dumb. that would be like forcing a business w/o any women working there to hire women.

1st ammendment says Congress shall make no law respecting (regarding in today's English) an establishment of religion or prohibit the free exersize thereof.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!! Government has NO RIGHT to infringe on the religious beliefs/practices of others.

And that's 9th CIRCUS, not Circuit. LOL

Never. Seperation of church and state works both ways in my opinion. If some lower court did rule that way, I'm sure the Supreme Court would over turn it.

Someone voted that they would support some such ruling.

Why?

yeah you're right. i wouldn't make a law forcing businesses to hire women/blacks/hispanics/etc. either. that's not fair to the businesses to have to most likely fire someone so that a woman can take their place. now if the business discriminated against the woman/black/etc., then the person could sue. but i wouldn't force a business to hire anyone.

Such a move would be unconstitutional and since we can't expect the church to hold morales over tradition......

i kinda see the question of should women priest be allowed as one of the most unimportant issues regularly discussed maybe they would be less likely to touch the altar boys i dunno.

The way people pick and choose what to believe from there own religion makes the point kinda null and void
