How is it self defense?

The first guy, before he made the first shot. The guy was stalking him. Rittenhouse was in retreat the whole time leading up to the first shooting, , trying to avoid trouble.

and yet he wound up shooting his "stalker" in the back. Doesn't that seem strange?

Well, if that turns out to be accurate it is a factor. But then again, it might be the perp spun around after the first shot. It’s not a conclusive factor.m

If he was trying to avoid trouble, then he wouldn't have been brandishing an AR-15 at a racial justice protest.
