How I grew up and quit the Democrats

Changed in my early 40s. I grew up.

So how did I manage to change?

First One must study the issues.

As a Democrat, hell Yes I thought I could.
As a Republican, that is not even on my mind.

DO YOU TRULY THINK YOUR NEIGHBOR HAS TO MUCH MONEY SO YOU APPOINT THUGS IN DC TO ROB HIM OF HIS EARNINGS?
As a loyal Democrat, who gives a shit. Republicans do not need money. They must have stolen it.
As a Republican, I now appreciate the effort it takes to hire workers, plunge your savingings into plant, equipment, paid workers ahead of profits, benefits one pays as an employer, rules employers must follow that workers do not have to follow... I now believe in freedom

I agree, I too used to be a democrat but saw the light in my early 20s the democrats want to control ever aspect of your life, they think there smarter than you are and know what's best for you.

We are not talking the party of your grand-dad that actually had good idea's and a hard work ethic.
we are talking about the socialist/communist rob people's wealth and promise the world off the back of hard working people
we are talking about the panderers and the takers. The people that cry "their fair share" and "it's not fair".
the people that have 0 ideas to improve the lives of people but want to tear down everyone else's life (but their own) in some
corrupt evil sense of fairness.
 
The Confederates of 1864 would HATE the current Democratic Party.

I voted for W twice and don't regret it. I voted for McCain in spite of my concerns about Palin. I'd rather have chewed my left arm off than vote for Trump in 2016. I voted for Johnson. I'm voting for Biden next month. Damn Republicans left me.

You did not grow up to quit the Democrats. You grew older and lost your common sense and sense of decency. It really is clear.

plus, southern conservatives (and that mindset that has infected people throughout our country) flipped to the republican party. and we all know why. we just have to constantly argue with the idiots across the nation who deny it (because it's embarrassing).

It's sad anyone would allow political parties to control their emotions in such a way.
 
When I "grew up" I realized that neither Party had all the answers. So I quit the Republican Party and became an Independent.
Even when I was a Republican I never voted straight Party lines on a ballot.

My question to the OP, Why would you let a Party tell you who and what to vote for. Do your own research and decide. It is your vote, not the Political Party.

What's funny is your response to it. A conservative does not have to favor programs like Medicare and Social Security to take benefits from those programs that they were forced to pay into all of their working careers. I for instance am 66 years of age and absolutely gladlyt accept the monthly benefits that I paid into all those years. Why wouldn't I? It's my money. As for Medicare, while I have Medicare Part A, I have not yet taken advantage of it as I have VA Healthcare. Part A is automatic. I do not need part B,C,D, etc. As for cutting benefits? That has primarily been pushed and done by the democrats...for instance taxing the SS payments and pushing schemes to lower benefits and raise the retirement age every time the system appears headed for bankrupcy.
Personally I think Social Security should be privatized and just audited by the government. Retiring seniors would not only have more money at retirement time, they would also be able to pass their funds to their survivors when they pass away. My sister passed away before retirement age and never drew a dime, nor did her survivors from her funds, other then a roughly $250.00 stipend for burial.
