Full article here. Of course it is supposed to be humorous but he links all of his sources. I've always rolled my eyes at this statistic and this goes into decent detail about it.
 
I think most corporations are pretty savvy when it comes to increased profitability. If paying women less were so widespread and profitable, why are so many men working?

Because men, having less experience shopping, don't recognize a good deal so they hire other men.
