How dumb is Trump? He blames the Democrats for a government shutdown

CBS reports, "President Trump said Sunday that a government shutdown is likely unless top Democrats back down from their negotiating position.

"I just don't know how we are going to solve this issue," Mr. Trump said in a phone interview with CBS News.

"Mr. Trump also expressed confidence that the American people will side with him if government funding expires in the coming days, and he believes Democrats will pay a political price for not working with him, on his terms, to further cut spending."

Trump's Republican Party controls both Houses of Congress and the White House!
 
You don't understand reality, do you?

The Senate Republicans don't have a filibuster proof majority, so that means, in this case at least, the Dems can hold the CR hostage. And, since they want to add more than a trillion in spending to the CR, yes...it will be them who are responsible for the shutdown.

I'm only pointing out that it's an option. The nuclear option hasn't bothered Republicans in the past when they felt it suited them. To be fair, it hasn't bothered Democrats, either.
 
Trump isn't dumb at all. He's just blaming Democrats so he doesn't look bad. His followers, like some in this forum, will eat it up lock, stock and barrel.

Republicans have burned down every other convention, like sending troops into cities, gathering up people who are innocent and putting them in gulags and openly going after political opponents in which they clearly have no case to convict. What's one more?

The Republicans currently control the Presidency, the House and the Senate. They can use the nuclear option in the Senate to pass their budget to keep the Government open. But somehow it's the Democrats fault if the Government shuts down.

Democrats could agree to the budget.
 
The bottom line is that trump and the GOP refuse to talk to the Dems, or negotiate....
 
This means the republicans will have to give up something.
It’s called compromise.
So far, they are unwilling to do so.
That sucks. But it’s on them.
