This company doesn't exist here, but I sometimes read about it in the past.

I always said "Verizon" like in horizon.

But apparently, you pronounce it like "Very Zone" ?

Stunning.

Can you tell us more about that company?

Have you got a link?

I have no idea what it is.

So I would say: "werrytson!" - and they must then live with it - however they are! :)

It's horizon starting with a "v" instead of an "h". How hard is that? I've seen sillier questions asked on here but not many.

I pronounce it rhyming with horizon. I've never heard a single person in the US pronounce it like "very zone".

HORIZON

ver-EYE-zun

The company started by taking over what USED to be the "second largest telephone company in the USA, the largest one being
"THE BELL SYSTEM"....but much of the West Coast was actually serviced by "GTE" ---- General Telephone and Electronics.
First GTE was acquired by Bell Atlantic and then Verizon bought out all of GTE, making it totally defunct.

”What only one ****ing bar?”

Now I looked up what it is:

Verizon Communications to report earnings January 25, 2022
Verizon will report 4Q21 earnings on Tuesday, Jan. 25. The company will present results on a webcast beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. Access instructions & presentation materials.

I have nothing to do with them.

I've always pronounced it like your first example, similar to horizon.
In fact I'd say if you're writing a poem or song lyric those two words rhyme.

Oh no, you say, eyes fixed on the horizon.
Is that what I fear, the approach of Verizon?

That's how it was pronounced when I had it in the early 00s. Nobody said it any other way.

How, VeryZone? Or Ver-eye-zun.

Here's a commercial - no VeryZone to be found.

When I was working for a company that required me to travel continent-wide - Verizon had the best coverage. I'm on t-mobile now - it's the most economical with the best coverage.

It's prounounced: "Ver eye zun".

I worked for NY TEL / Verizon for 30 years

I pronounce it the way James Earl Jones pronounces it:
