So, Obama was live presenting the Medal of Honor To ret. Lt. Col. Kettles a few minutes ago. As he described his heroic service in Vietnam Nam rescuing downed pilots, he talked about the military tradition of leaving no one behind. And how this remarkably brave man epitomized that tradition.

No one left behind. Can you say Benghazi?

Benghazi is not the only attack that has ever happened on a US compound. If other presidents can present awards to soldiers why can't Obama?

The POINT is that HC is running for President. He purports to support her. Timing for a "no one left behind" slant couldn't have been much worse.

Does not mean left behind alive, means we take the bodies with us, we got their bodies, no one could have reacted in time to save them and they should not have been there to begin with.

So because a Democratic president expressed support for the Democratic nominee, he is thus disqualified from ever honoring soldiers or talking about a long standing military tradition? Even when he's honoring a brave warrior you guys jump through hoops to make these ridiculous connections. He just can't win with you guys, can he? How many thousands of soldiers did Bush send off to die for absolutely no reason whatsoever? Should we start digging up all of the scandals associated with everyone he ever endorsed?

Must be a slow news day and you were just itching for something to complain about.

Obama should have personally parachuted into Benghazi to save all of our brave men and women who risked their lives there. Instead he sat in the white house the entire time and now he has the balls to honor a soldier? The outrage!

Hello Maggie, I all for criticizing Obama and Hillery, but
we should not let the identity of the presenter diminish, the deeds being recognized with the award.
Sorry, I saw your followup post too late!

To be fair, it's a military tradition, not a political one. Military dudes were ready to go in.

No, not a slow news day. When he focused on no one left behind and talked about it being our tradition, I simply couldn't help but think of Clinton. So shoot me.

Probably not fair to compare a politician to a Medal of Honor recipient. :)

His timing has never been good. A few years ago he lectured the world about police attacking protesters by saying the US is better than that... just a few weeks after our police did the same thing to OWS protesters.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying here.

Are you saying that it's crazy for him to say it because he supports Hillary Clinton and she left people to die in Benghazi and refused to save them even though we had people near by? Is that your point?

No. My point is that I connected the two and found Obama using the no one left behind meme to be incongruous in light of our government's performance in Benghazi.

Incongruous how? The republican that led the investigation into Benghazi has said that there was nothing that could have been done once the attack was started to save the people in the compound, so I'm not exactly sure what your point is. Suggesting that just because we suffered an attack that included tragic losses of life that we no longer get to be proud of our "no one lift behind" stance doesn't seem legitimate to me.

The timing was bad? Benghazi was four years ago. Just because the investigation dragged on for as long as it was politically handy doesn't mean it's a recent event.

It being a still almost daily news item makes it still "current".

Why is it still daily news? Benghazi-like attacks have happened over multiple presidencies. It's something for republicans to hold on to in the hopes that it paints Hillary bad enough to actually affect her. It is absolutely horrible what happened, but can't people be above conspiracy theories?

LOL! Can you say, 'irrelevant'?

What happened at Benghazi has nothing to do with the actions this man got the medal for, no matter how badly you wish it did.

*sigh*

Eight freaking investigations (held over a longer period than the 9/11 commission), most of which were chaired by the "we-gotta-indict-Hillary" Republican House, ALL found zero wrongdoing by Hillary (NO, she didn't give a "stand down order"), and there was NEVER any question of wrongdoing by Obama...and the GOP House Benghazi Committee's head military lawyer even quit the investigation because he saw it was nothing more than a political witch hunt...

...but NOOOOOOOOO! It doesn't matter that there was absolutely nothing that either Hillary or Obama could have done to rescue the Ambassador or the others, the conspiracy theory simply will. not. die.

But then, I have to remember that even now, up to a third of Republicans STILL think that Obama wasn't born in America....

Of COURSE it had nothing to do with Mr. kettles. You sure missed the point, didn't you?

It's never going to die, even in the history books.

Newp. As Obama didn't leave anyone behind in Benghazi, you didn't really have a cogent point.

Die? LOL! It was stillborn from day one to any rational adult who could see through the Kabuki theater of the investigations that the Republicans even admitted were for political purposes.

Oi.

Oh, it won't die in the history books...but it won't reflect well on the GOP in those books, either.

Unfortunately it depends on who writes that history. Now factual history is a distant second to agenda. It wasn't always like that.

Can you say false comparison? I'm sure Mr. Kettle appreciates you using his moment of glory for your political agenda on the Benghazi victims.
