How biased are your favorite media?

Those TV shows with opinion I don't even consider news, its commentary. How is NPR not center? Their articles have the other perspective in them. That's what I've been going to. although I'm smart enough to spot bias.

BBC and NPR apps are ones I've been going to lately

Anyway, every real news is left since most of what the right believes is complete crap. They think science, that searches for facts, universities that teach facts, education that teaches fact, pretty much everything but their garbage right wing lies and spin is liberally biased.

it shows in how they can't even support their positions with fact, logic and reasoning

5 or 10 years ago CNN would be right down the center, man have they fallen

I watch a lot of foreign news. NHK, BBC, JPN, etc. Seeing the Republicans would say this is way way socialist left leaning, then there I lean. :)

Seriously, you get more actual news than opinion out of the country. You also get a birds eye view of Americas issues.

Sometimes, when I'm in the mood, I'll throw on Mika and Joe and get some validation. lol

I'm not ashamed of my left leaning progressive self. I think we'd do a better job at running this country.

Does anything on either of these charts surprise you, regardless of your political affiliation?

I dont think i have favorites, i do "like" or at least i do not instantly write off and look for way more sources many of the ones listed in the middle and in the green box though
but you should always look for plenty of sources anyway.
at lease AP, NPR, BBC, reuters and some other I consider "generally" reliable but still always research if I'm actually interested

the second picture is WAY too general for me and that's proven by places like "the epoch times" and "the American conservative" just being slightly right, and the Atlantic being slightly left LMAO

My primary favorites are AP, Reuters, The Guardian, Al Jezeera and The Christian Science Monitor.

All commercial media - ALL - is biased toward their bottom line and, as such, must be taken with that pillar of salt added to their content. It takes time and discernment to sift the unadulterated truth out of their content.

AllSides is the best source when it comes to researching and exposing media bias. Far better than that joke of a site mediabiasfactcheck.

It's amusing when people complain about NPR's media bias rating. Not only does NPR lean left in their online news content, but they also lean left with their fact checks and AllSides goes into great detail to explain how they came to that determination.

That is hard to believe. The Daily Mail is a British newspaper affiliated with Fox News. I have seen Russian Times articles posted by Republican members to push their anti-American agenda.

Mike and Joe who? I don't know anything about that show.

I'm not ashamed of my left leaning progressive self. I think we'd do a better job at running this country.

Me neither. I am not as far left as people who identify themselves as "progressive" about everything, but a liberal on every issue.

Yeah, I meant the ones I watch would be considered socialist by the left. Sweden, France, Germany, England, Japan, Korea, which I realize makes no sense, but it does to them.

Sorry, spell check is on, Mika and Joe from MSMBC.

Can someone explain how in the world Newsweek was put in the center?

Your spell check must be off now because you misspelled MSNBC.
Oh, lol, I also type really fast, so my apologies. I usually make a run through but I've got a lot of other things going on today and so I'm just popping on in between other things.

Sometimes I just hope people know what I mean.

Truth is biased toward the left. IMO…

I like MSNBC, I realize they have a bias, but so doI. For the most part they have on reporters about their stories & other experts.
I especially like Rachael Maddie as she is good at digging into the history of a story. When she starts talking about some incident from the1920’s, I wonder how she’s going to tie it to something current, she does though.
Of course I watch other news, I just figured I’d admit to NDNBC while everyone is playing the intellectual news card.

Yeah , like you pay attention to a lot of foreign sources, domestically I like NPR, and if I want my ego stroked I'll go read the Palmer report (but I would never quote them).

Except that in reality it leans right.

Both of those charts are nonsense.

The first chart correctly places the Wall Street Journal closer to "skews right" than some other media in the middle.

On the All Sides chart, news and opinions are separated for the WSJ. Opinions skew right, but the news does not.

People make far too much of the left / right lean as it is rather moot, and not enough the factual integrity. What difference does it make if there is a skewing left or right, as long as the story is factually correct. Does it really matter of WSJ is skews right or is down the center or is Axios is skews left or is down the center? Neither are on the wings and both score high for journalistic integrity.

The Ad Fontes Media Bias chart should be far more about the Y-axis (the journalistic integrity) than the X-axis (the political lean). That also renders the All-Sides chart rather irrelevant as it only deals with lean. The only time the lean becomes an issue is when the source falls into the hyper-partisan category. What is interesting, however, is the the news sources that are closest to the center also tend to have the highest factual/journalistic integrity.
