How bad are things in Mexico and elsewhere for someone to want to leave there and illegally live here, forever hiding from authorities and denying their self rights of a citizen?

Bad enough that we should protect ourselves from it.

Well, it can't be TOO bad considering they are wanting to bring all that lawlessness with them.

America has one of the laxer immigration policies, but when looking around the world, that's about as big of an accomplishment as beating a 2 year old in tug of war.

You got on my case in another thread for sticking up for illegal immigrants, but the ones I've known are just looking for the same things any of us are looking for -- an opportunity to give their children a decent life.

You need to separate these people into 2 groupings.
1) Those that seek to find work so that they can provide for themselves as well as providing for the families they left behind in whatever Country they came from.

2) Those that bring Drugs into the US and are only interested in getting as much as they can from US Government largesse.

The fact that various Governments have turned a blind eye to immigrants be they temporary workers or not has compounded the problem the wealthier nations (Not just the US) now face.

Cheap workers are fine, but when unemployment sets in, legal citizens say they want the jobs that these Cheap pay workers have.

I think the word we should use is HYPOCRASY.
