I absolutely cannot believe this. Everyone, including the most hardcore Astro fans, had counted them out. 7 games ago, they were 8 1/2 games behind St. Louis. 7 games later, they are 1 1/2 games out. 7 Houston wins in a row, coupled with 7 St. Louis losses in a row. Unbelievable. Astros are back in it. I thought that last year was the greatest come from behind move in Houston's history, but if the Astros can somehow pull it off this year, it will dwarf last year in a big way. The odds are still against them, but I am crossing my fingers. As long as they dont put Brad Lidge in the game, they stand an outside chance. :)

I thought the Cubs already did that...... Wait, it was the other way around. :)

As a Cardinal fan, the last couple of weeks have been hard to watch...

The Astros haven't as much gotten into the Central race by winning than the Cardinals letting them back into it by losing... But... the Astros have done the previous 2 years... give them some credit, they get stronger as the year goes on...

I can't root against the Astros though, next to Pujols, Roger Clemens is my favorite player of this era and the previous era...

St. Louis, eh? Wanna make a bet? Never mind. The ball's in your court, and you still have the upper hand. Sorry about you guys losing Isringhausen. If it hadnt been for that, the Cards would have had it in the bag already.

I have a brother in St. Louis. He is also in the Bowling Hall of Fame there :)

A bet? No thanks...

Losing Izzy wasn't that huge of a deal, he was having a horrible year. He had blown 10 or so saves out of 30 something... Save Carpenter, our pitching has been horrible all year...

Looks like we are even in that department. Brad Lidge has blown a bunch of saves too. He is nowhere near what he was like last year.

He hasn't been the same since Pujols murdered a ball and hit it to San Antonio off of him in their series last year... Good closers have short memories, closers that let things like that get to them have short usefulness...

Yea, Pujols is known to do that. He did a repeat of that last night, didnt he? LOL.

Astros won again today, and at this time, St. Louis is losing 9-1 to the Brewers. Cant believe Houston put Lidge in today's game, and he didnt give up a run. Damn, thats a first.

Astros are only half a game behind with 3 games to go for us, and 4 to go for St. Louis. Odds are still against Houston, but they just got a little better. If Houston actually wins the NL Central, this will be the greatest collapse of a team in baseball history, not to mention the greatest comeback of a team.

I am getting nails out for the Cards' coffin, just in case the unthinkable happens, and right now, I am downing a pint of Dead Guy Ale (Yes, that really is the brand) in honor of St. Louis' performance tonight. :)

I was in the Bowling Hall of Fame. Then they asked me to leave because they were closing.

Definately hard to be a Cardinal fan nowadays... geez their pitching sucks...

Did you hear that Pedro Martinez is out for the rest of the year with a torn ligament in his calf? That means the Mets are beatable... if you make it to the playoffs, the way y'all are playing, you could get to the Series 2 years in a row... how about that? I'd root for Rocket to get another ring...

But whichever of us makes it to the series will probably get killed by the Tigers. But maybe not. Detroit has been in a funk lately.

I doubt the Tigers make it... they could, but I doubt it. The Twinkies are the hottest team in the AL right now... and you can't count the Yankees out, especially if A-Rod plays well...

Agreed, although I want to see the Yanks lose. One of my brothers is in New York, and I had the pleasure of referring to his team as the Spankees last year. Was fun, since most years he is rubbing it in how NY is great and Houston sucks.

Looks like the Cards are going to beat the Stros out. Cards won, Houston lost. Magic number for your guys is down to 2. St. Louis would really have to implode for them to lose the Central Division championship.... Ummm. isnt that what they have been doing already these last 2 weeks? LOL. People here in Houston can only hope.

If our team doesnt make it, then I will make a small request to you guys. Spank the Yanks :)

At least, I think my brother Greg in St. Louis would have the last laugh this year instead of my bro in NY. Have a brother in Florida too - his team sucks. One more brother in Philadelphia. his team sucks too. My team? Yea, maybe they suck too. Will find out very soon. LOL.

BTW, got a joke.

q. What are Pee Wee Herman's 2 favorite teams?

a. The Expos and the Yanks, of course.

:)

Its over now. One hell of a run, but the Stros came up short.

Congrats St Louis. Now go kick some Yankee a$$. :)

StL fan, do or die. I admit the last two weeks have been nail biters, and congrats to Houston for making it close. Yes, the Cards "backed" into the playoffs, but this is the third year in a row we have won the division. I believe it was the '42-44 Cards that last won 3 divisions in a row, and many consider them the best Cardinal team in history.

Once the playoffs start...anything can happen.

I also caught a foul ball at the old Busch Stadium when I was 11 years old...have many autographs on that ball..Stan the Man, Johhnny keane, Harry Carrey, Curt Flood, Ken Boyer, Bill White, Dick Groat, Julian Javier, Dal Maxville, Tim McCarver...etc...

Go Cards! And the Rams somehow managed to win again yesterday!? Now if the Blues can get out of the cellar this year, my life will be complete.

Damn, no Yankee a$$ for St. Louis to kick. "D" ****ING TROIT murdered em.

Where is 26 x World Champs? Perhaps he would like to make a statement on the drudging of the Spankees. :)

Go Tigers.......:)))))))))))))))))

Cardinals Vs. Mets... just like the mid 80's when there were only 2 divisions per league and they were fighting it out for the playoffs every year.... THE METS ARE POND SCUM!!!!

I have to admit...I was kind of hoping for a Yankees/Cardinals World Series again. That would be a classic.

A bit of trivia...StL is the only team that has a winning record against the Yankees in World Series play.

Go Cardinals!

Nah, I would like to see a rematch of St. Louis - Detroit 1968 :)
