How a government of the people, for the people, deals with right wing reactionaries

Re: How a government of the people, for the people, deals with right wing reactionari

Democracy means the RULE OF THE PEOPLE in Greek. Elections and voting don't make a country a democracy, the people's will does. Fools like Donald Trump, NRA and citizens united lobbying, and biased right wing propaganda like Fox News, and racist laws such as voter-id distort and silence the voice of the people. The fact that there are elections means nothing if angry racists are allowed to corrupt and distort the will of the people with their hate speech.

How exactly is the "people's will" determined, then?

The difference between me and you Ganapathy, is that people here actually like me.

So why would I ever go away?

You're also not a crackpot troll, possibly on the payroll of the Chinese government.

There is no right for any person to hold a racist, bigoted, or reactionary opinion. In fact, allowing these opinions to be held and even encouraged in society is directly contract to true democracy, where the good of the people as a whole, not only one race, is the ultimate goal of government.

For democracy to exist there must be a free exchange of ideas. Without free speech there is no democracy. The proper way to deal with ideas that are wrong or bad is to answer them with more speech, not by calling for bans on them.

China justified in punishing subversion - Global Times

The People's Republic of China does not play around when it comes to defending the rightful people's government against Western backed radicals who wish to eliminate democracy and replace it with capitalistic corporate rule.

If only our government here in the United States had the same morals, conviction, and rightful power to punish enemies of democracy, such as Donald Trump, the NRA, or David Duke and their supporters.

This must some concept of democracy I'm not familiar with. In fact, it's not democracy at all. You can't have democracy if someone is controlling what can be said. In that case it's not the will of the people that's being expressed by a vote, it's the will of whoever controls the speech.

In the United States, wealthy interests like corporations and labor unions have an advantage, but individual citizens can have their opinions made public like never before.

Absolutely. The Chinese government serves the well being of the people

Wait...so execution of individuals to harvest their body parts is "serving the well being of the people?"

Eradicating Tibetian culture and religion is "serving the well being of the people?

The myriad of environmental crimes and their well-publicized smog problems are "serving the well being of the people?"

The Tiananmen Square Massacre was "serving the well being of the people?

If this is your idea of utopia, then you must absolutely hate mankind.

That's simply not how democracy works. If you can't see how using political power to destroy people who disagree with you is incompatible with democracy, I'm not sure what to tell you.

i am. ;)

Your Chinese hero's are not running a democracy, good grief move there already and stop whining about a real democracy, you would not last a month.
