This is what happens when one abuses power given to him. Bush can veto this if he wants, but it will easily be overridden. This was not a Democratic bill, but a bipartisan bill with a huge amount of Republican support.

Passed in House by a vote of 329-78

Passed in Senate by a vote of 94-2

And that's all she wrote. Done deal.

I'm glad congress is taking control of this potential abuse of power. A full investigation should be able to be put into effect and if Bush and his admin are indeed innocent then the power should be reinstated.

If Bush indeed did participate in obstruction of justice he should be put on trial.

Where is the obstruction? He can fire 8 judges or 93 judges. It's his choice.

The whole purpose of this whole "investigation" is that those specific attorney's were fired because they were driving investigations into corruption by a number of Republicans. If Bush fired them knowing this then he obstructed justice.

Bush has every right to fire the attorney's if he is firing them just to fire them. It is possible obstruction of justice to fire attorney's because they are investigating Republican corruption.

There is more to it than that. One of the prosecutors was being pressured to issue an indictment against a Democrat before the election last year, even though his case was not yet ready. As a result of the meddling, the case was compromised.
