WASHINGTON - The U.S. House pressed swiftly forward Tuesday toward impeachment or other steps to forcibly remove President Donald Trump from office, even as Trump blamed Democratic foes and not himself for last week's deadly attack on the Capitol.

He targeted the lawmakers who are pushing for his ouster, saying that it's “a really terrible thing that they're doing.”

“To continue on this path, I think it's causing tremendous danger to our country, and it's causing tremendous anger,” he said. He accepted no blame for the Capitol attack and said, “I want no violence.”

It seems like Trump now comes with a disclaimer "I want no violence". I wonder if he thinks that as long as he says this, it will keep him immune from any future charges of inciting his people, whatever he might tell them.

Also, want to reiterate, there is no way that Trump doesn't have information about the conspiracy theories that are spreading from his allies and supporters about him invoking the Insurrection Act or planning on ousting Pence for Flynn or charging members of Congress with crimes, yet not a peep out of him to shoot these conspiracy theories down.

What an ignorant post. Impeaching the piece of shit twice means that he stands a chance of not being able to run for President again. The last I seen was that 57% of all Americans wanted Trump out immediately. The way out varies, impeachment, resignation, use of the 25th amendment. But 57% want trump gone and you can bet they won't be angry about it.

I don't understand how so many Americans can be so blind that they would actually approve of what he's done for four years.

Yeah, there's something understandable about hating a national traitor. The real confusion in trying to understand why so many hold such deep love and affection for a national traitor.

And "naïve" is voting for Trump in 2016 and again in 2020 with countless examples of of him throwing his cult under the bus in between.

It probably boils down to partisan politics. Regardless of party, each will defend their own until it becomes untenable. For those who are avid partisans, there is nothing more evil on earth than a member of the other party. I tend to eliminate both Republicans and Democrats in these things as both will see whatever or whoever does or doesn't do as bad and be against it or them. To break this down by party, Democrats 4% approve, 94% disapprove, Republicans 71% approve, 20% disapprove, Independents, 28% approve, 65% disapprove.

Compare that to December, 3% of Democrats approved, 96% disapproved, really no change pre and post D.C. riot. Republicans 89% approved, 9% disapproved. That is a substantial change, from 89 down to 71. Independents, 38% approved, 53% disapproved. Again a pretty big change between pre and post D.C. riot.



The high's and lows and average of Trump's approval from Jan 2017 through Dec 2020 is as follows.
All adults 49% high, 39% low,, average 44%
Republicans 94% high, 79% low, average 90%
Democrats 14% high, 3% low, average 7%
Independents 48% high, 30% low, average 40%.

I'd say the Democrats never liked Trump, always against him. Independent were very leery of Trump, not trusting him while the GOP pretty much fawned all over him until the D.C. riot.

Yes.

While pondering, as I do, on why these people have so easily betrayed themselves and their country for this man, it suddenly hit me on January 6th.

- September 11: People who had politicized their religion, attacked America in New York and in D.C. in the righteous name of their God.

- January 6: People who have also politicized their religion, attacked America in D.C. in the righteous name of a demagogue.

There is little difference when it comes to the conservative mind from culture to culture. Call them Islamists. Call them German Nazis. Call them American conservatives. They are all cut from the same cloth and easily radicalized. What angers me is that my kind have fought and continue to fight this sort of enemy every single day overseas. Now, we see this enemy within. They stood by and supported Trump's routine denigration of the military, his routine attacks on American democracy, and his routine defense of enemies against American institutions for four years. Their excuse? "Stick it to a lib." And whenever Trump forced them to actually look at him, they defaulted to their "fake news" and their "TDS" as denial. So on January 6th, they enthusiastically attacked and ransacked our Capitol building and terrorized and threatened our Senators in a show love and loyalty to an autocrat wannabe. And what have they decided to do? As always, they choose to deny and cling to a new right-wing inspired conspiracy about how Antifa was the real enemy in D.C. They went from trying to separate themselves from what represented them on January 6th to outright denying that they were even Trump supporters.

And just think... Their downward spiral into the sewer began when the Tea Party and right-wing propaganda began pushing conspiracies about a birth certificate way back in 2008. Trump merely came along and put a leash on the decrepit dogs.
