House Intel votes to send witness transcripts to Mueller for possible perjury charges

Sorry Sport, if they were real issues Hillary would have been indicted. Do I need to remind you those were investigations conducted by a Republican Congress and they got squat. They were important to you for partisan reasons. Probably the same reason the Dems will subpoena the hell out of Trump. Only difference, Trump will cry like a little bitch the entire time, whaaa witch hunt. Do twelve hours in front of a hostile Congressional Committee Rump, he would not last 30 minutes!

Out of curiosity, do you think Mueller is doing his job appropriately? Do you think Schiff, perhaps, is giving him a little nudge to maybe get his ass in gear and really start investigating? Do you think that maybe Schiff knows a lot of stuff that Mueller doesn’t and, because of two years of Republican obstruction, he’s been prohibited from getting it to Mueller? Do you think that, finally, the American people will be given the truth behind the Russian plot to destroy the country?

The only question I can answer with certainty is the last one. Yes, Putin will do whatever he can to weaken this country. He is an old Soviet Comrade, and yearns for a new Russian Empire, at America and our Eueopean Allies expense. Never, ever trust the Russians, they ARE not our friend, despite what Rump believes. And if Trump actually believes Putin is our friend he is not only naive but geo politically ignorant.

Why would you assume Schiff has more information than Mueller?

Now, if they were really serious about 'protecting the integrity of congressional testimony', and had evidence of Trump Jr., or anyone else, lying to them, there's a process for that. They can refer the issue to the DOJ with the transcript and any other evidence they have. The DOJ can then either assign it to Mueller if it's within his scope (or related enough that is makes sense), or assign a 'normal' prosecutor to review. They didn't do that.
Um, the House committee is waiting for the GOP leadership to assign their members, they cannot turn over the official transcripts of testimony until the committee comes together.

If you want to rehash, feel free to start a new thread. Tired of that particular talking point.

Benghazi was a congressional investigation, and it identified a number of failures in our government, which was it's purpose. The email congressional investigation also found significant wrongdoing on the part of Clinton, and resulted in a criminal referral. On this one -- seriously, I can't imagine that anyone could say that she responsibly protected her email communication.

Remember that the purpose of congressional investigations is NOT to make criminal charges, but to identify government shortcomings with the hopes they will (1) keep the executive branch honest, and (2) point to areas where we need to adjust our laws. The two investigations you mentioned, did exactly that.

And again, this post isn't about the investigation.... it's about a specific action that was pure theater.

As was Bengazi and the email investigation. Both dragged out by the GOP for maximum political gain. What goes around, comes around.

Emailgate was an actual crime.

See the OP. The committee voted.

Republican members were named January 30. They took a whole week to name their committee members. The accusations of a "delay" is another great example of political theater.

What failures in our goverment were highlighted by the Benghazi hearings, see if you can answer with out using google.

If Trump has nothing to hide, no need to worry. Like it or not the Dems were given the House to conduct some oversight.

cough...

The Intelligence Committee has been unable to hold the required vote to release those transcripts to Mueller until the panel formally organizes. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi finalized the full slate of Democratic members two weeks ago, and Democrats were increasingly questioning whether McCarthy was intentionally dragging his feet.

"He is sabotaging the work of this committee at this point, I don't think there's any way you can sugarcoat it,” Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., said earlier Wednesday on “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

Well, he must have more stuff if he no longer trusts Mueller to do his job.

1)Although Mueller's mandate is broad, it's broad only within the range of its mandate. House committees have unlimited latitude to investigate as they please, so they can explore the kinds of avenues that Mueller might be too constrained from investigating.

For example, Mueller can only follow avenues arising from evidence in the course of his investigation. So if in the course of investigating the Trump campaign he finds another crime, he can choose to follow that. However, if he reads the newspaper and sees that Trump stole a car and robbed a bank, that's actually not within his purview because that revelation did not follow from the course of his own investigation.

The House is not constrained in any such way.

2)The DOJ is not obliged to make its findings public, whereas congress can make their findings public.

tl;dr version: different jurisdictions are different, resulting in different investigations.

Now, they worried about if someone lied to Congress? :lamo

Everyone lies to congress. John Brennan, Hillary Clinton, Jim Comey, the list goes on.

Then we have the women Grassley said he was going to have investigated for lying about Kavenaugh, then the Democrats must have talked him out of it, because he folded.

So one hand scratches the other. Just don't you try it.

You mean like the GOP not assigning members for the House committee?

The Democrat accusations of a delay was absolutely political theater. Yes. Republicans assigned members a week after getting the slots - hardly a delay.

Two weeks would not have been an unreasonable amount of time. But they had to get the number of slots per committee from Pelosi first, and apparently there were some gaps in the communication from that office. Again... that was resolved a week ago, and within the context of this thread is a non-issue.

Um, dood, the Intel Com could not turn over the transcripts until the committee came together, members were not assigned by the GOP until last week, only Nunes had been assigned.....and that was "theater" by the GOP leadership. Ironic, isnt it?

Keep up the denial of theatrics by the GOP, it is what you do.

Assuming this was directed to me, I'll let you google the results, and would be happy to share in another thread for that topic.

You are not answering why you believe Schiff knows more than Mueller, and now you are becoming even more vague.

And here I was believing that you still could make fact based argument...

You cant come up with one, not one can you. In other words, you got zip. Benghazi was political, thanks for being so honest.
