Hotel employees who asked black guest to leave fired

So it was handled....what more would you like to see happen?

Sent from my SM-T587P using Tapatalk

Yes it was. So people should stop blaming the victim.

I thought according to you that criticalthought can not be racist as he is African American. That's what you are always telling us right.

Anyone can spew racist crap. That was, in fact, racist crap he spewed. I don't care if he claims to be a green alien. It is what it is.

You disagree? You think seeing a black person do something bad once, and projecting it onto all black people, is not racist? Please, tell us how the kkk militia explained to you that's not racist.

It's the definition of racism. Do you believe anything is racist, or are you one of those "there is no racism" guys?

I eagerly await your denial of the obvious. Let's see you serve racism - deny it.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that Massey did anything to deserve having the police called on. Not even the people who were there, including the guard and the hotel mgr, accused Massey of any inappropriate behavior.

He probably didn't. My point was there seemed to be a lapse. I am allowed to be skeptical. Or is it not allowed because the guy is black? I just have to take everything in the media at face value?

"I saw a black guy talking on the phone, it makes me wonder what this black guy was doing in that lobby. Because we all know all black people act exactly the same way. Why do people keep calling me racist?"

Maybe it's because you think a random guy you heard cussing on the phone has any bearing on this situation whatsoever because his skin color matched the persons in the discussion.

I'm white, I cuss people out on the phone. Sometimes people need to be cussed out.

Like right now...

Lol. No, I don't think because I heard a random black guy misbehaving that it means this guy was as well. I could see how my post could be interpreted that way though. It is kinda funny. The sensitivity on these issues is turned way up.

No, this is Portland Oregon. The only people living there are liberals and antifa scum.

What a stupid thing to say.

Skeptical of what, and why?

As I said, there is absolutely no evidence that Massey did anything wrong. Not even the guard or the hotel mgr accused him of doing anything wrong.

And you do not have to believe the media. You can believe the video and the hotels corporate office.

So what are you skeptical of, and why?

I am skeptical of the media. Always will be. It's a good habit.

The video kind of says it all.
Massey asked the guard if the area he was in was off limits after a certain time? The guard says not for guests.
Based on the the body language of the guard there wasn't any big commotion or incident.
The guard with racial bias decided a black man probably with a hoodie and jeans on didn't belong in that hotel.
After Massey said he was a paying guest and provided a room card to the guard the incident should have ended.
That security guard let his ego get in the way of his job hopefully the Hilton doesn't have to pay to much for this.
I wonder if after the police escorted him to his room and he was removed from the property if they gave him his money back right away.

You are dodging

And doing a bad job of it

For obvious reasons

I think life is too short for you to be offended by a stranger questioning if there is more to a story than what the media portrayed.

You are still dodging. The media is not the only source of info.

Given that the hotel fired the employees before it started its own internal investigation, I have to wonder. If you have a link to any witness in that lobby who could share what they saw, that would be great. How about word from the employees who were fired? There is more to this story.

On the afternoon of Dec. 22, Mr. Massey checked into the Doubletree hotel, then went out to dinner and to a Travis Scott concert before returning around 11 p.m., he says in the videos.

He saw that he had missed a call from his mother and called her back from his cellphone in a secluded spot in the lobby. After a few minutes of discussing what he described as a private “family matter” with her, a security guard, who is white and has not been publicly identified beyond his name plate, which read “Earl,” walked up to Mr. Massey and asked what room he was in, Mr. Massey said.

“I said: ‘I don’t know, I’m having a conversation right now. Can you leave me alone right now?’” Mr. Massey recalls in the Instagram videos.

The guard then said that Mr. Massey was trespassing and that he was going to call the police, according to Mr. Massey.

The man was acing suspiciously late at night in the secluded corner of the hotel lobby after entering the hotel without checking in at the reception. To make matters worse, he initially refused to show his room key when he was approached by the guard who called 911. Massey should have been in his hotel room to have a private phone conversation with his mom to avoid trouble.

Watch the video and you will see numerous people walking by in the background. You act like he is hiding behind a cabinet. It is a lounge area for guests.
Have been to many conferences and often meet with others in those areas to discuss the event. It would be odd for one of the attendees to want us to all go to his or her's room.

If there wasn't a sign stating no guest allowed to use the guest area then your complaint is invalid.

Portland is one of the best destinations in the US. For a town it's size there's a lot going on and everyone who visits leaves intending to come back.
Where do you live?

My wife went to a work related meeting last year by herself. She said she was treated very well and got a lot of help getting around. She was actually at the hotel the day they had that confrontation between Antifa I believe and the white supremacists. Thank god she was in class during the event. There she is becoming a US citizen much to the chagrin of many on the right.

That is just plain wrong. He was already checked in to the hotel and had stuff in his room. He has no obligation to check in again.

You are wrong. The hotel did not fire anyone until the investigation was completed.

The words from the employees are on the video. They clearly state that he was being evicted because he was sitting in the lobby.

I can't believe all the racists on this thread. Just because the guy was white doesn't mean he attacked the guy for being black. Sometimes an asshole has nothing to do with race.

Not just no, but hell no. Talking on a cell phone in a secluded corner is not suspicious behavior. You can literally see other guests walking in and not stopping at the reception counter. And no, Massey was fine to take a call in the lobby unless there is a sign specifically forbidding it.
