The BBC has been talking about this for the last 20 mins or so and has now confirmed that hostages have been taken at the Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Originally the BBC mentioned a Palestinian who had previously sought asylum in Britain but I am not sure whether that is the case.

Obviously we will hear more soon.

Hopefully the suspect will be detained quickly and no embassy or security personnel will be hurt.

Yes, let's hope so. It sounds like it may be someone with psychological problems

Some sources believe the man is the same man who, four years ago, barricaded himself inside the British embassy in Tel Aviv, claiming to be armed. He threatened to shoot himself in the head if he wasn't granted asylum in Britain.

A negotiations team spoke to the man, a Ramallah resident by the name of Nadim Injaz, 28, and discovered that he had a criminal record, and had worked as an informant in the service of the Israel Police.

After a SWAT team subdued Injaz they discovered that he had been armed with a toy gun

It does sound like he is wounded (shots fired by the Turks) and we have been told he has taken two hostages. Lets hope it ends quickly without further incidence.

Turkey is not allowing Israelis in but will allow medical people in to deal with the hostage taker apparently

Funny how Israeli news says it is a Palestinian.. not hear that at all from any channel here yet.

BBC just did as well.

Yeah, I've heard those channels over there have some truth-disruption problems concerning events that take place over here.

Could be satellite malfunctions.

Reuters is reporting that the two hostages have been freed and also that the suspect has a history of mental illness.

Yeah, that was my guess as well since it's the same guy that was behind the similar British embassy incident.

Turkish diplomats told the media that the guy has entered the embassy and then pulled out a toy gun and got shot.
A classic lunatic.

They should have known there was something wrong with him when they discovered him whittling a gun into a bar of soap.
