Ted Cruz's father, Rafael Cruz gave a speech Saturday (heard the clip on the radio this morning) and said that he came from Cuba and Castro preached hope and change during the revolution. He compares Obama to Castro using dictator methods like Executive Orders for anything that doesn't go his way.

He also stated that the scariest thing the President has said was when he said if Congress doesn't act, I will act unilaterally. Sounds like a dictator to me, what does everyone else think?

He definitely has done some things during his time in office that should have been beyond his power, but...

The word 'dictator' is too strong in my opinion.

what do dictators do? they ignore the law of the land. What has Obama continued to do?

Continue the Bush Admin.'s legacy. This is not party-specific. Whoever ends up in the Executive Office, the end result is consistent.

I think that is a giant ass straw man argument and comparison.

Care to elaborate?

Just because someone is promising "hope and change" it does not mean the "hope and change" is anywhere near the same. Hell you can compare just about any democratic leader or non democratic leader when they come to power they all overwhelmingly when it boils down to things promise "hope and change". And every single president used executive orders, (which are legal in our democratic process), and by the amount of executive orders Obama is pretty low on the exec order count when compared to other presidents and we are not going around saying "oh this pres is a dictator cuz he used the (legal process) of issuing executive orders.

His order to push back the mandate on ObamaCare actually isn't legal by the Constitution. Just saying. That is a dictator.

You're right, 'pathetic tool of the Socialist/Progressive elite' would be a better description.

No its not a "dictator". You are using this term way to liberally. By you're definition and usage anyone can be a dictator then, any leader.

Obama's abuse of power is obvious, but he is no Fidel Castro.

I agree. Some are just more blatant.

Lol, I'm not his biggest fan either.

Obama can do this because the Senate Democrats won't censor him or pass any laws that force him to stop doing this. The House is passing bills to reform the IRS but the IRS need not worry because the Senate Democrats will block them all. That Congress is divided has more to do with what the President is up to. He can exceed his authority without having to worry that Congress will do anything.

But all of this is well within the bounds of the Constitution. If Congress passed a veto proof law forcing Obama to reform the IRS, and he instead had Congress placed under arrest, for example, then we'd have a dictatorship.

when I read thread like this ...all I see is $$$$$ floating into the pockets of people like Rush Limbaugh.
