Yes, another corruption scandal is about to break.

Turns out that Duke Cunningham is not the only lawmaker in hot water. The same defense contractor that enticed him also got to several other lawmakers, and the carrot was a doozy - Free hookers at the Watergate Hotel.

Article is here.

It looks like this could be another Watergate.

No, he will only declassify it.

I didn't get that.
How can you declassify a law?

It was a stupid joke because Bush verbally decassified information on Valarie Plame and had Libby leak it.

ahhh, I see. However, doesn't the president have the power to declassify information at will as he is the head of national security, Or must he get a permission slip from the UN?

Many people are guessing that hookergate the reason Porter Goss resigned. He and the #3 man at the CIA are apparently tied to these prostitution parties.

Well....I don't see any Goss resigns threads started.........so I'll just put my opinions here, since Scotty gave the opening.

I doubt that Goss is resigning because of "Hookergate". When Bush said his "goodbyes", both were sitting side by side, with the fireplace in the background. If there was a scandal........Bush wouldn't have his picture taken with him.

My take on this.........Negroponte has been quoted as saying Goss is not a team player. He might have just got fed up with all the bullshit, leaks and this administration to out and out quit. He didn't say anything about staying until a replacement was found, or anything.

Seemed to take everyone by surprise, and that's not normal for this administration.

Dont be so sure of that.

Look for the CIA's number 3 man to resign next week.

Kyle "Dusty" Foggo is now being investigated for his part in Hookergate, and it looks like it will lead to his ouster barely a week after Goss resigned.

They say the number 3 guy was actually at these prostitution gatherings.

You can't go visit your favorite hooker at the Watergate Hotel in a dang ol' Honda, you need a limousine. So enter, Shirlington Limousine and Transportation Inc.

In recent weeks, investigators have focused on possible dealings between Christopher D. Baker, president of Shirlington Limousine and Transportation Inc., and Brent R. Wilkes, a San Diego businessman who is under investigation for bribing Cunningham in return for millions of dollars in federal contracts, said one source, who requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

It seems as though Mr. Baker is not in the running for citizen of the year. According to public records, he has been convicted for drug possession and attempted petty larceny, as well as two felony charges for attempted robbery and car theft. It also appears that he has had a little financial trouble as well, including a tax lien filed by the Internal Revenue Service, losing his house in 1998, and filing for personal bankruptcy protection in 1998 and 1999. In September 2004, the company was sued in D.C. Superior Court for $1.8 settling for $300,000.

Why do we care about a limo company involved with high-class hookers for Congressmen, a shady background and difficulty with finances? Baker's company won a contract worth $3.8 million with the Department of Homeland Security in April 2004 and another one-year contract for $21.2 million in October. $21.2 million is a lot of limo rides for ONE department.

Is this what's known as 'Trickle Down Corruption'? ;)

Yup, he was. As for Porter Goss, he was not directly involved, but his ouster stems from the political infighting between him and Negroponte. Since Goss appointed Foggo, Negroponte has been able to portray the appointment as another one of Goss's screwups. It is probably the straw that broke the camel's back for Goss, but Goss himself is not that guilty, but just another victim of the White House Machiavellism so often seen in the Bush administration.

Republican strategist Ed Rollins was interviewed today by George Stephenopoulis, and he does not paint a pretty picture.

In the interview, Rollins literally blasts the Republican party, and blames them for not living up to promises to bring honor back to government. He says that 15 lawmakers, which also include a couple of Democrats, are going to be brought down by this scandal, which will be unfolding over the next 3 or 4 months.
