If say John Edwards had been elected,and not Obama,do you really think Republicans would support his agenda? It is likely their would have been few if any differences in their policies,whether it be healthcare or other issues. My point is that I honestly think it's not accurate when his defenders act like opposition from congress is race based.
On the other hand,would Dems be as aggressive defending Edwards as they have been Obama? Would an Edwards been able to muster the type of black vote that Obama got to win in Ohio,Florida and Virginia?

I'm not a Dem but;

If say John Edwards had been elected,and not Obama,do you really think Republicans would support his agenda?

No

It is likely their would have been few if any differences in their policies,whether it be healthcare or other issues.

No way to know.

My point is that I honestly think it's not accurate when his defenders act like opposition from congress is race based.

Of course that would not be accurate but I also don't think it's accurate to say that all his "defenders" make that claim.

On the other hand,would Dems be as aggressive defending Edwards as they have been Obama?

Yes

Would an Edwards been able to muster the type of black vote that Obama got to win in Ohio,Florida and Virginia?

Probably not, but that doesn't indicate that it's this insidious racism at work either. I imagine most people will vote for those who they more readily identify with. Besides, we're talking young people here and you cannot deny that Obama is just a lot cooler than most of the stuffed shirts on Capitol Hill.

If Dems wanted John Edwards elected they would have made him their candidate.....but they didn't.
