wtf? Is this serious? Did you choose? Did you have to look at a magazine and weigh your options? what the hell are you even talking about.

But you can't control which sex you want to have sex with and thus shouldn't be denied equal human rights.

As I said before you choose to have sex with someone, you do not choose your race.So comparing race to sexual preference is a major insult to real minorities.

...and THAT is what this is all about! Of course, we have to address choice versus inborn at this point. But are Homosexuls Piggy-Backing Civil Rights Movement?

I think that in many ways they are. There is a real need for certain "marraige rights", but they have all of the rights now and before that minority RACES never had. It IS an insult to the Civil Rights Activists IMO.

Of course they deserve everything that Heterosexuals are entitled too, but that is separate from trying to attach themselves to the Civil Rights Movement in order to gain more sympathy. IT is a PC Move if ever I saw one.

I think you misspelled "histrionic".

THATis all you have 1069? :doh

Sucks for you that you are just some .... ahhh, why give you your lollypop?!

Are you able to NOT hold a grudge? It seems not, but that just goes to show you...

Why not let go of your hatred?

Fear leads to anger...
Anger leads to hate...
Hate leads to suffering...

Considering the fact they are trying to compare race to sexual behavior yes they are trying to latch onto the civil rights movement.

Marriage is no different than any other thing that has requirements that need to be met first. You can't section 8 housing and food stamps if you are single and middle class, you can get into a rich only country club if you flip burgers for a living nor can you get a senior's discount on the city bus if you are 22 years old.Marriage is open to any one male and one female couple just like section 8 housing is open to anyone who meets their requirements. If someone wants to leave someone something in case they died there is this thing called a will,if someone wants to let someone control their finances and other assets and visit them in the hospital there is thing thing called power of attorney.

Of course they deserve everything that Heterosexuals are entitled too, but that is separate from trying to attach themselves to the Civil Rights Movement in order to gain more sympathy. IT is a PC Move if ever I saw one.

I think it is despicable for someone to compare sexual behavior to race and to try to latch onto the civil rights movement. It is not different than someone stealing money from charity or someone pretending to be a wounded war hero.

I agree

Well, I think that people can and are born Homosexual for a variety of reasons...but I also feel that they should make their own movement and not latch on to the Civil Rights Movement. Distinguishing themselves will be difficult, because peopel will find similarites...but they should address these issues! Lack of communication and honesty and then lashing out with the PC Machine when your needs are not met is COUNTER PRODUCTIVE to the genuine goal.

James, that requirments thing is a very good point.

I can't support gay marriage for religious reasons, BUT, I kind of wondered why they won't let them in the hospital with their partner, cause that always seemed kind of mean and that's a pretty legitimate disire (that has nothing to do with the objectional behavior). I think they should be able to say if they want their partner to be incharge and accompany them to the hospital.

They can get that ability with out marriage. It is called Power of Attorney and or Heath Care Proxy.

I am a historian jack-***. That is what I majored in and what I have my Masters in. You have not addressed the aspect of history regarding this issue until now and I don't give a rat's *** about it because it is irrelevant to the point that you raised. That point is that you see, "Pitts as more credible than anybody else in this forum". I don't. This is an opinionated point that you raise since there is no way to prove who knows more. You can try if you like, but then we get into more and more opinions.

You want to toss out inane little insults about who is more credible? Answer that then instead of trying to switch gears once you see that you have no logical standing. His book does nothing to negate the fact that people at this site are credible references.

Lastly..."you people"? What people? Open people? Tolerant people? People that support gay marriage? People that support individual rights? People more Intelligent than you? That is the type of person that I am. I am all of those things and much more. What people are you referring too num-nuts? What type of person are you? That is a fair question at this point. You show no semblance of logic and you assume up the yin-yang.

Unless you can act reasonable, I am afraid that I won't be able to allot you any more time. :(

Bye! :2wave:

If you were more intelligent you would be able to understand the simplicity of your folly. But that is the irony I guess. The fool on the hill sees the sun going down... Oh well. :(

Since you are unable to debate on even a mediocre level and since you do not have the fortitude to be accountable for your comments, I am going to clasify you: "A Waste of Time", joining 1069, Maximus Zeebra, Paladin and a couple of others. What is it with some of you people? Stop being so angry!

I will only make fun of you from this moment on. :tomato:

why are gay rights not civil rights, but black rights are again?

You don't choose what sex. You may choose the individual if you're picky, but never the sex.

Did you look through a pamphlet on which sex to choose?

Also,

Do you think, if it were a choice, like what color to paint your wall, you'd choose homosexuality despite the disgusting way homosexuals are treated in this country and the fact that they don't have the basic right to marry and are mocked by pop culture consistently???

I'm looking forward to you answering these questions.

Yes quite right, Ive already asked some of these questions but so far Raging james refuses to consider them.

Because those questions violate the weak, barbaric, and backward line he holds on this issue.

Where is this question even coming from? I think that we all agree that gay rights fall within the realm of Civil Rights. You do understand that the Civil Rights Movement was a focus on a certain aspect of Civil Rights that were not being addressed.

Gay Rights are Civil Rights. That is fine. They are. But as Johnny said, the Civil Rights Movement was and is known as a Black Minority Rights Movement. It was Marcus Garvey and W.E.B. Dubois and Booker T. Washington and Plessy and Brown and MLK and Malcolm X and the NAACP and many more.

Rock Hudson and Freddy Mercury werent until the 80's and AIDS changed the nature of the Homosexual Agenda. It is all good. Gay's deserve rights, I just think that they should develope their own Movement. Comparing the struggles of the Black Man in America to the struggles of the Homosexual is an insult to African Americans in my opinion.

Their was a Suffragette Movement.

The problem is that the Civil Rights Movement encompasses...civil rights! So it is tough to come up with a new or better term.

If George Bush can be selected President because of Civil Rights then Homsexuals should be able to use Civil Rights to help eleminate discrimination against them.

Why should they have to make their own movement?
Dont you think that the blacks did this so NO ONE would ever have to go through what they had to.....

I think the civil rights movement was made for everyone! If they have to make a movement of thier own think about how barbaric that sounds.... We had to go through that so we wouldnt get discriminated so they do too...

Personaly i think that sounds just stupid the Civil rights movement was for everyone not just the blacks.

And if they make their own movement whats next? Asians having to make a movement and musilims and jewish people?

Absolutely right.
Anyway, the "Civil Rights" movement encompassed far more than racial equality.
It also encompassed women's equality, religious and cultural equality, and rights for the handicapped, the mentally ill, and other oppressed groups. Patients' rights, etc. Prisoner's rights. Children's rights. It was about fair, just and equitable treatment for everyone.
People are being ridiculously childish and pointlessly combative by saying, in effect, "I agree that gays deserve equality and civil rights, but they should call their movement something else besides 'the civil rights movement', because that's already taken by minorities".

I might just as easily say that every word in this post is "mine", and that nobody else can ever use any of them again or else they're copying and "piggy-backing" me. It would make about as much sense- and sound about as mature- as what i've heard in this thread.

It is and insult to all African Americans for gays to compare their plight for equal rights to what they had to endure..........

It is outrageous..........
