Hochul couldn't remove Adams because the Black base will revolt

Gov. Kathy Hochul could not remove Mayor Eric Adams because the base of the Democratic Party, black voters would revolt. He still is fairly popular with Black voters, and the optics of a White woman removing him from office would not look good. She is up for reelection in 2026, and Black voters can stay home instead of voting for her or voting Republican.

Simple as that.

True. But Adams was a icon in NYC's black community as a cop, he was one of the few cops nationally to call out police brutality.

It's the truth. Black voters are more tribal than other groups. When Black voters see one of their own being "persecuted", they tend to rally towards that person. He is not really popular with black voters in NYC per se, but he still has a sizeable amount of support.

Hard pass on the evidence-free claims.

Adams' approval rating has been in the toilet for months. And yes, that includes among Black voters.

Hochul doesn't want to do it for a few reasons:
- It's not clear yet if the federal charges will be dropped.
- It's not clear if he will be charged with any state crimes.
- It's an undemocratic move, which might not be the best look for a Democrat right now.
- He's toast anyway.

I'm not sure how "corrupt" he is as compared to other politicians. What I saw in his indictment would be laughed at by anyone holding an office higher than dog catcher. I mean, seriously, a little equal application of the law wouldn't hurt the credibility of some of these DA offices.
 

Or the new administration in the WH could set a good example and should instead see that all laws are enforced. Right? And not pardon violent criminals that assaulted police officers and damaged and desecrated our national Capitol, right?

Yeah, that could happen. The problem is that y'all are already getting bent out of shape with Trump chasing fraud, waste and abuse in the Executive branch agencies. If he tasked DoJ with chasing FW&A in other branches the conniption fit we're seeing now would look like kindergarten nap time in comparison.

I've been there, it's not. And pretty sure Black Americans dont have much problem with 'defund the police' agendas since it's based so strongly on police abuse of people of color.
