This is why we can't do anything against Illegal Immigrants in this country or stopping more from coming! We have laws but no one wants to enforce the laws. Hillary is now fighting to block legislation seeking to criminalize undocumented (ILLEGAL) immigrants. The bill passed in December by the House would make unlawful presence in the United States - currently a civil offense - a felony.

Surrounded by a multicultural coalition of New York immigration advocates, Clinton blasted the House bill as "mean-spirited" and said it flew in the face of Republicans' stated support for faith and values.
- NO, Ms. Clinton - this is not 'mean spirited', but nice pre-election photo-op!. It is totally unneccessary, I would agree with that. The Republicans' answer to the problem is not enforcing existing laws but to make new ones (that we can all ignore).

We need to start booting illegal immigrants out of this country instead of allowing them to stay! It is unfair to those who are working within the system to come to this country! Illegal immigration is a drain on this economy as well!

The SWern states need to follow Az's suit and put troops on the border to force the Federal Govt's hand to stop the hemoraging of our borders! We also need to enforce the curent laws that we have now!

So, Hillary, instead of attacking the GOP as 'mean-spirited' , attack their measure/legislation as being a result of their spineless failure to press for enforcement of current laws and immigration regulations!

Got to love Hillary's Socialist thinking...

Bring us your poor, your tired, your hungry...Bring them illegally...Let them sit on our welfare, crowd our prisons, drain our school budgets, bottom out our otherwise decent-paying job markets, have free (taxpayer-funded) healthcare with no questions asked...And let us feed our people the steaming load that these criminals HELP our economy...And how dare any of those evil Republicans preach about family values while expecting immigrants to actually obey our laws, integrate into our society, and stop sodomizing our economy?

Hillary is a very typical unthinking hippy Leftist who will utterly destroy our economy with this "spare no expense to give our country away" philosophy.

There are no easy answers to the immigration problem and there's little debate that the current system is grossly inept. Howard Dean predicted that the GOP would put immigration out as a new wedge issue, it certainly looks like that's starting to happen.

So many corporations and companies use undocumented immigrants these days. I think the place to start is there. Severely punish corporations that exploit undocumented workers. The bill that Hillary is against basically makes it easier for employers to abuse undocumented workers - that's the morals/values part.

There is nothing in this bill about workplace protection, in fact the undocumented workers would be more dependent on their employer/sponsors and more vulnerable to workplace abuses.

I think that part of the solution is to make it easier for undocumented workers to get a green card. For the most part, these are people that have fled their country for the promise that America holds. If they contribute to our society, and add to the economy, we should welcome them rather than shun them.

Deporting the Undocumented: A Cost Assessment provides the first-ever estimate of the costs of a policy designed to deport all undocumented persons currently in the United States and those who successfully crossed the border (approximately 10 million people). Using publicly available data, we estimate the costs of a mass deportation effort to be at least $206 billion over five years ($41.2 billion annually), and could be as high as $230 billion or more. Spending $41.2 billion annually would exceed the entire budget of the Department of Homeland Security for FY 2006 ($34.2 billion) and more than double the annual cost of military operations in Afghanistan ($16.8 billion).
http://www.americanprogress.org/site/apps/nl/content3.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=1002793&ct=1223773

How would we enforce a policy to kick out all of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants? How would we pay for it? That would be a huge government program. (So much for the GOP and small government)

Heck sometimes I have trouble honestly telling the two parties apart! The media keeps the illusion going that the right and left are vastly different so we spend time bickering with one another but really the ones in control are generally very similar.

Am I missing something in that statement? How can one fight to block
ciminalization of illegal activity? Isn't this a prime example of a
double-entendre?

easyt65 I'm not defaming you... rather the efforts of Senator Clinton to
speak out of two sides of her mouth at the same time. Tell me she's not
courting the Hispanic vote with this madness.

I just watched a report on the news that said Hillary is catching more fallout on this one from Invoking the name of Jesus.

One Democratic Party spokeswoman actually said the far left does not want any religeous reference associated with their politics and beliefs, that they should be kept seperate, and that Hillary is seen by them as panderig to the middle and GOP. She said there is a significant section of the party that is angry at Hillary, that this is giving them more ammo to fight her desire to win the DNC Nomination in '08.

A Liberterian made the point that Hillary was 'deplorable' for selectively using Jesus as a political tool. He said Hillary stated that Jesus would not treat illegal immigrants the way the legislation calls for, but he points out that Jesus would also not approve of many of the things she does support, like Late Term Abortions. In his opinion, this is just another example of Hillary the Chameleon trying to gainsupport/votes. He finished bysaying (and I agree) that both Dems and GOP tend to invke God and Jesus when trying to sell their point and bash/demonize the their opponents!

For the Record: God is not a Democrat or a Republican. In his own words, "I am the Great 'I Am'!"

Some 16 years ago, I was stationed in Anchorage Ak, and I was attending the 1st Baptist church there, which happened to be the largest land-holder/owner in Anchorage with the spending budget of $1 Mil each year. During one Sunday Sermon, during an election year, the Pator began preacing on how God hated Democrats, how if we are God-fearing people that we would get out and vote for the Republicans in the up-coming election.

I got up and walked out on the spot. Whether from the Left, Right, or Middle, it is wrong to bring God up and use him or Jesus for your political agenda.

From the sound of it, Hillary is ticking just about everyone off on every aspect of this issue either by her comments or her stance.

If the GOP isn't careful, they're going to lose all of the hard work they've done trying to gain the trust of Latino Americans.

4 in 10 Latinos voted Republican in 04, now we have millions marching against the possibility of hard working, undocumented workers will becoming felons along with those that aid and feed those undocumented workers.

I guess the GOP skipped over Better the "Good Samaritan" story in the Bible.

Of course "illegals" can't vote, but their family and friends can. My gut is that the fallout against the GOP trying to turn this into the wedge issue du jour will backfire and that the Latino population's support of the GOP is headed closer to the 2% of African American support for the GOP.

Thank you Bill Frist, this is right up there with your leadership on the Shiavo debacle!

The question is, how needed is this bill? Shouldn't the illegals just be deported, I'd rather not have our courts and prisons have to deal with taking these immigrants in and having us foot the bill. They should be documented, sent back to their country, and barred from returning even legally until they pay an invoice for all of the expenses they incurred from being here illegally.

NO ONE is targeting 'good samaritans' who feed or give clothes to the illegal immigrants who are coming across the border into this country illegally! Hillary was wrong on her interpretation of this new legislation! I am against anynew legislation, however, until the old laws are enforced!

It is still ILLEGAL for any company/organization/person to hire illegal immigrants! Start nailing the companies a couple thousand dollars a head, raising that amount as necessary, until paying illegals to do jobs is less economical than paying the fines and the hiring of illegal stops! With no jobs available to illegals, the illegals will go home! This is one way to ensure that the immigration policy, the way people are supposed to come to this country, works! It is not fair to those who follow the rules! People should be allowed to come to this country, but we as a country and Americans should be alowed to say who and when - that is why we have the laws that are in place now.

As far as all these thousands of illegals protesting across the country, if you really wanted to be nasty about this whole thing (and I am not advocating this) you could not have asked for a better opportunity. Bring in troops at the next protest rally/march, encircle the protest group (forming a net), and start checking Green Cards - all those illegals who are stupid enough to come out to protest could be loaded up into Paddy Wagons and Air conditioned semis by the truck load and immediately taken back to Mexico for being in this country illegally!

The fact is there are thousands and thousands of Mexicans who are coming to this country because their own country $ucks! My 1st thought is, how about stay and fix your own country?! That is what we had to do - build this country up from scratch to be what it is today - the country everyone is trying to get to! Yes, they take jobs no American wants anymore (because they have gotten lazy and think manual labor is beneath them - sort of like my son's attitude about raking the leaves out back and cutting the grass!) They are also a tremendous drain on the economy - millions in US Currency is taken back to mexico each year. Thousands are receiving 'free' medical treatment by going to emergency rooms - huess what?! There is no free medical - YOU are getting stiffed with higher prices because they are getting free treatment!

I am not against people coming to this country THE RIGHT WAY, the LEGAL way! Hillary is just wrong on her comments, and the ploiticians are wrong about this new legislation BS! They have heard people grumble about the problem and have passed new legislation that they intend to enforce just as little as they do the existing laws JUST TO SHUT US UP!

People say we need amnesty for the thousands and thousands in this country, while they plan to do nothing to stop the thousands coming across the border this month. Next month they will say we need amnesty for THEM! When will it stop?

CLOSE THE FREAKIN' BORDERS AND ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS!

People will stop coming in if you close the borders. Those who do make it in illegally will find no work waiting on them when they get here because it is illegal to hire illegals - they will return home! For illegals who show up ast Emergency rooms, provide them with the necessary care to stabilize them/save their life, hold them for Immigration, and then deport them!

For all those who say I am not a christian/a good Samaritan, I respond with this:

I think stopping illegals coming in tio this country and returning many already here it may be one of the greatest things we can do for them! HOW? We make them address the problems in their own country and make IT better! Have you ever seen protests and marches in Mexico like you have seen HERE the last few days? Can you imagine if they out THAT much effort into improving their own country!

Also, if this country caves/collapses under the flood and economic burden of immigrants into this country, how are we going to help anyone else - its like the lifeboat scenario. Is it possible that we can save only so many before we start having to push people away from the lifeboat?!

Then there is the option my buddy came up with - if so many Mexians want to be Americans, their country is so bad, and they can't fix it, then maybe we should just ANNEX MEXICO, making it the 51st State!

You obviously haven't read or analyzed the Sensenbrenner HR 4437 that the House passed. It does just that. 92% of Republicans voted for 82% of Dems against.

The Gospel vs. H.R. 4437

Published: March 3, 2006

It has been a long time since this country heard a call to organized lawbreaking on this big a scale. Cardinal Roger Mahony of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the nation's largest, urged parishioners on Ash Wednesday to devote the 40 days of Lent to fasting, prayer and reflection on the need for humane reform of immigration laws. If current efforts in Congress make it a felony to shield or offer support to illegal immigrants, Cardinal Mahony said, he will instruct his priests — and faithful lay Catholics — to defy the law.

The cardinal's focus of concern is H.R. 4437, a bill sponsored by James Sensenbrenner Jr. of Wisconsin and Peter King of New York. This grab bag legislation, which was recently passed by the House, would expand the definition of "alien smuggling" in a way that could theoretically include working in a soup kitchen, driving a friend to a bus stop or caring for a neighbor's baby. Similar language appears in legislation being considered by the Senate this week.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/03/o...4ce46ec2e0337d&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

Last December, the House of Representatives passed anti-immigrant HR 4437, introduced by GOP Rep. James Sensenbrenner (Wis.).

It would make all undocumented workers felons, as well as those who help or work with them including teachers, clergy, union leaders, social workers and family members.

In your own words/post:

"This grab bag legislation, which was recently passed by the House, would expand the definition of "alien smuggling" in a way that could theoretically include working in a soup kitchen, driving a friend to a bus stop or caring for a neighbor's baby. Similar language appears in legislation being considered by the Senate this week."

That is his own OPINION, not a FACT! And no one is going to target people working in a friggin' soup kitchen or caring for a baby for crying out loud! We don't even enforce the CURRENT laws that make it illegal for companies to hire illegals and calls for punishing those companies for doing so!

And you and idiots like this guy you quoted...and Hillary....are running around screaming like Chicken Little claiming that the goverment is going to (quoted by you as fact, not the actual 'could THEORETICALLY' like the quote says) target Soup Kitchen Workers instead of the illegals themselves or the companies that hire them, the jobe those companies are providing illegally being the reason the illegals are here in such massive numbers to begin with!

And I suppose you are in full agreement with the Arizona judge who put an American Citizen in jail, took his house from him, and gave it to the illegal immigrants he caught trespassing on his property, tearing down his fneces, and stealing his crops. After several years of this happening over and over, the man detained several immigrants himself until the Border patrol could get there. The immigrants were deported, and the Govt. of Mexico filed a lwa suit on their behalf - the stupid American judge found in their favor. Now Illegals are living in his house while he is still fighting to get his property back!

Morons like Hillary would say the landowner should have turned over his farm to begin with without having it stripped from him because the Bible says if your neighbor asks for a sweater because he is cold, you should give him your coat as well. Therefore, in Hillary-ville, the guy should have just handed the keys over to the tresassing illegals and moved out of his house anyway! :doh

BUT, again, we don't need new laws! We need leaders with the cahonies to enforce the existing ones!

How would we enforce a policy to kick out all of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants? How would we pay for it? That would be a huge government program. (So much for the GOP and small government)

Your ideas I can agree with, except making it easier for someone already in the country illegaly to get a green card. The reason I have a problem with it is this... there are peoples all over this planet, who've gone through the proper channels, and are still in their HOME countries waiting for approval of their green card. Should someone get special treatment because they can cross land to get here, regardless of the law? I think not.

I can not beleive anybody supports this fraud
she is such a piece of garbage
same piece of garbage who sat on the Board of WalMart and now has left it, only to bite the hand that fed her corrupt political ambitions
having Senator Hildebeast, i am ashamed to have come from NY

No one cares about the middle class or blue collar worker anymore except for a small group(a minority) of Republicans, there are Democrats who smother illegals because they will vote in the future and there's latino voters now. The changing demographics shows that latinos are slowly taking over the US.

Illegals will make this country poor while it benefits big corporations. Democrats are pro immigration for votes, and Republicans for big business.

We are screwed.
