Hillary Clinton touts affordable higher education in $225G Las Vegas speech | Fox News

Clinton was saying really nice words about affordable education and privileges. Must have been very inspiring. And so useful. For her. She got $225,000 for this speech. And some more money for other speeches in other universities.
Now it’s clear why education is hardly going to get cheaper in this country. Because colleges need to find money to pay people like Hillary.

Amazing anyone could be worth that much to speak. That's more money than many people pay for a house for God's sake!

That's what outraged me in the first place.
Plus, as far as I understand, this is a part of her election campaign. So she's actually earning money on running for president...
I just think that the education cost is so high not because Universities need to pay salaries and support campus running, but because the spend tons of money on such activities as this meeting with Hillary. I just wonder, what was the use of this meeting - for students.

Elected and appointed politicians should be barred from contract work when they enter the public sector. Too much chance for corruption. I mean, that could be interpreted as a $225k campaign donation right there.... Which is tantamount to a bribe.

Then again, she's not in office or appointment at the moment. Man, there is no way to get money out of politics.

Higher education shouldn’t be a privilege for those able to afford it," Clinton told a crowd of approximately 900 people. "It should be an opportunity widely available for anybody with the talent, determination and ambition."

i completely agree. putting a massive paywall between students and higher education is an exceptionally poor idea for a nation that wants to maintain its top tier, first world status.

If you figured out how to get money of politics, they would make a law against it.

Yes, the things she was saying are quite right and nice, and all. But don't you think it's kinds hypicritical to talk about the affordability of education and to charge the University $250 000?

yeah, that money should go to the students.

Do you think she's planning to donate that hefty fee back to UNLV in the form of a scholarship?

I don't.

From the OP

"Hillary Clinton called for businesses to collaborate with universities to make higher education more affordable"

What would business have to gain by spending money on education?

There is already a glut of people for each job opening.

Seems like a bad investment from the businesses standpoint.
