In an interview with the Guardian, the former Democratic presidential candidate praised the generosity shown by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, but suggested immigration was inflaming voters and contributed to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”

And there you have it. Most of us can agree migration needs to be curbed. We saw this in Europe. A mass number of asylum seekers and migrants that were disguised as hostiles entered these countries. Germany for example has had an increase in violent crimes and terror plots from Syrians since the mass migration.

1. Immigration
2. Terrorism.

THESE are the #1 and #2 issues most important to voters in the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland, and Lithuania.

So in the United States, why are we being distracted by Healthcare, gun policy, and the way women are being treated in our society?

Just goes to show what Hillary is most concerned about...and it's not the out of control European immigration and the problems that brings to those countries. She cares more about the possibility that those European countries will abandon the EU and globalism in favor of nationalism.

Why are you guys so afraid of the EU? Is it because the US has a big advanyage in the world when the world is fragmented into many little bits instead of united and working together?

Who's afraid of the EU?

American conservatives. Donald Trump. Hell, for that matter Vladimir Putin.

Do you really think Trump "fears" the EU? LOL!!

More the other way around, hence Hillary's blatherings.

The EU fears Trump? Good one.
Listen. Since before he was sworn in Trump has been all about fragmenting the world, pulling out of deals and alliances and group efforts. He wants the US to stand alone in a world where everyone else stands alone, too. That's how the US hegemony happened and how it can be maintained. A united Europe has a bigger population and a comparable sized economy, hence the advantage to the US if the EU is broken up.
It's a desparate ploy. If Trump isn't to be seen to preside over the US losing it's dominant position in the world the big alliances have to be broken up, or made ineffective. It all might end up moot though- China is an inevitability and Trump, if he were less self-serving and more far-sighted, would realize that joining with a united Europe is the best plan for keeping a kind of equality in the world

That's a lot of words, but it didn't really say anything, much at all. Brexit happened before Trump was elected.

The EU fears Trump's actions because they are a threat to the globalists.

Trump isn't fragmenting the world. He is quite willing to deal with countries or groups. But he won't join groups because then the US is bound by those groups. The US ends up getting used by those groups. We saw that with NAFTA, we saw that with the Paris Accords. Trump is all about what's best for the US...not what's best for the group.

The US doesn't need the EU when dealing with China.

The US absolutely needs the EU in all economic and banking agendas that sustain USA economic hegemony. Same ol', same ol', Interests, not friends!

Well, it sounds like you pretty much agree with some of what I said. Some. I'm wondering what you mean by the US being used by Canada and Mexico when NAFTA was an American creation but whatever. Point is, Trump pulled out of Paris and TPP and NAFTA and alienated his NATO allies and Europe and threatened to pull out of the WTO, all for the sake of trying to restore the post-war dominance the US enjoyed for so many years. That can only happen if the rest of the world is fragmented and can be dealt with one small piece at a time. That's 'what's best for the US', not a united Europe and all those small Asian countries working together. And China? Just one generation ago China was just an overpopulated third-world poverty case. In one more generation you're gonna want to be on their good side if you want a good deal from them. Nearly1/4 of the people in the world are ethnic Chinese already, counting the huge diaspora.

Both Mexico and Canada were taking advantage of the ability to buy cheap Asian stuff, assemble products with it and sell those products in the US. This was a work around for those Asian countries to avoid US tariffs for that Asian stuff.

Point is, Trump pulled out of Paris and TPP and NAFTA and alienated his NATO allies and Europe and threatened to pull out of the WTO, all for the sake of trying to restore the post-war dominance the US enjoyed for so many years.

This motive you assign to Trump is nonsense. Trump has no desire for any "post-war dominance". Rather he is interested in trade and relations to benefit the US.

That can only happen if the rest of the world is fragmented and can be dealt with one small piece at a time. That's 'what's best for the US', not a united Europe and all those small Asian countries working together. And China? Just one generation ago China was just an overpopulated third-world poverty case. China is their own worst enemy. In another generation they'll either have given up their economic dominance desires or they will suffer an economic collapse. Hopefully, they will see the light, work with the US...not against it...and prosper.
