In a statement announcing the agreement, Team Sanders took an unveiled swipe at Clinton, with spokesman Michael Briggs saying, “Fortunately, we were able to move a major New York City rally scheduled for April 14 to the night before. We hope the debate will be worth the inconvenience for thousands of New Yorkers who were planning to attend our rally on Thursday but will have to change their schedules to accommodate Secretary Clinton’s jam-packed, high-dollar, coast-to-coast schedule of fundraisers all over the country.”

A Clinton campaign official responded with a statement saying:

“We had thought the Sanders campaign would have accepted our offer for a Brooklyn debate on April 14 in a New York minute, but it ended up taking a few extra days for them to agree. We are glad they did.”

My guess is that Bernie will be much more gracious in his concession speech when he asks his supporters to channel their support to Hillary for a Democratic Party win in November.

So far Bernie has mostly played nice (this seems to be changing somewhat in recent weeks), and by comparison has played a much more respectable campaign than Shillary. She hasn't pulled many punches with him. Bernie has been slow to anger in this regard, probably for a variety of reasons, not wanting to hand things to the republicans and Shillary's gender combined with her ability to play the victim so well to name a few. But there comes a point where chivalry and civility make you look weak and cowardly. When you stoically endure attacks, at first it is noble. After a while you are expected to fight back. That time has come. Bernie wants to win, Shillary knows this is probably her last chance at POTUS, and even those still holding on to the slim hope of Bernie winning the nomination know that a loss or a tie in New York will be the final nail. He had to shame her into this debate, otherwise it wouldn't have happened, and without it he might as well close up shop. Personally I'd rather see him win or go down swinging. I don't see it damaging her chances in the general. She'll either beat Trump or Cruz or lose to Kasich, Bernie isn't going to change any of that.

I think Bernie has finally awoken to what he needs to do, and let's be honest, it works; look no further than Hillary's humiliating loss at the Florida Univision debate. Going negative is fine so long as it is predicated on facts (like Hillary's egregious corporate financing) and actual policy differences/positions/contrasts (her support of fracking, the death penalty, opposition to marijuana legalization, singlepayer healthcare, etc), as opposed to being pure, fiction smear (like accusations of sexism/racism leveled against Bernie).

The Univision debate, which is what her campaign fears a reiteration of, was neither; it was solid rhetoric and scathing facts Clinton didn't have much of a response to as she looked miserable all throughout.

The clinton camp was intentionally proposing inconvenient days so they could play this blame game. They picked days where Sanders had already put in place big rally's and then again proposed last night as an option opposite the NCAA national championship basketball game and they proposed this when Syracuse was one of the final four. IOW... trying to bury it where no one would watch it of course.

I'm glad its happening even if Sanders did all the damn compromising to make it happen.

Well, it turns out that Panama is a world leader when it comes to allowing wealthy Americans and large corporations to evade U.S. taxes by stashing their cash in offshore tax havens. And the Panama free trade agreement will make this bad situation much worse. Each and every year, the wealthiest people in our country and the largest corporations evade about $100 billion in U.S. taxes through abusive and illegal offshore tax havens in Panama and in other countries. So, according to Citizens for Tax Justice—and I quote—"A tax haven ... has one of three characteristics: It has no income tax or a very low-rate income tax; it has bank secrecy laws; and it has a history of non-cooperation with other countries on exchanging information about tax matters. There've been how many so far and it took a simple sit down with the New York Daily News editorial board to lay bare the fact that Bernie is clueless when it comes to talking about his own signature issue? If we've gone this far without debate moderators asking him basic questions like "do you know what Dodd Frank or the Federal Reserve do?" (no) or "do you even know what it means to break up a bank?" (no again), what's the point of these? Do we need yet another forum for Bernie to pivot back to his slogans and excerpts of his stump speeches while displaying no depth beyond them?

His spokesperson is right, that time would be better spent for him among his hordes of adoring undergrads.

Yeah... It's gonna come out in the debate. Statement from Bernie today:
