Hezbollah kidnapper on show

Jonathan Pearlman in Jerusalem
August 9, 2006

WITH a cut lip, bruised cheek and fresh collared shirt, a captured Hezbollah fighter appeared on Israeli television and allegedly told interrogators that he assisted in the raid that triggered the war.

In a video released by the Israeli army, 22-year-old Hussein Ali Suleiman said he trained in central Iran and was an anti-tank commander in a cell that kidnapped two Israeli soldiers last month.

This coupled with recent reports that members of the Iranian revolutionary guard have been found amongst the dead in Lebanon and the fact that Iran has freely admitted to providing Hesbollah the long range rockets puts Iranian fingerprints directly on this war.
