As another "far-left, liberal" website labeled it: "Bush Campaign Lies about Black Lives Matter Meeting"

Here's What Really Happened In Jeb Bush's Private 'Black Lives Matter' Meeting

A Las Vegas campaign event for GOP presidential contender Jeb Bush came to a sudden end this week as activists, unhappy with how Bush addressed a question on racial injustice, chanted, "Black Lives Matter." After the confrontation, the Bush campaign said the candidate had privately met with advocates for the movement before the event, an assertion that appeared in multiple articles about the disruption.

But that description is misleading, The Huffington Post has learned. There was a meeting, but no activists from the Black Lives Matter movement participated. Instead, Bush met with a local elected official, a GOP lobbyist and a staffer from an anti-poverty organization.

Why lie about it? Why not just say, "I ain't meeting with those obnoxious, screaming protesters!"? That statement would garner more support from the GOP base, than what his campaign spokesperson said.

i think your giving jebbers too much credit there, he probably thought the guy talking to him about black people was from Black Lives Matter....he is a Bush after all

On noes! Someone named Bush is misleading people! This is as surprising as meeting a rude Frenchman or a lazy Greek.

Fine by me.

oh boy.

Think how stupid the "black lives matter" slogan is. Is this the beginning of a new cause? Are blacks saying they matter?! Really!? No one knew that. When did lives of blacks start to matter? How pathetic it is and then have jump on the band wagon politicians like Hillary stand in front of an audience and repeat it!! To my thinking it is a huge insult but then I am white and I matter. When it was said "all lives matter" in front of a bunch of ignorant punks they booed the guy. Brilliant!!

Fine that he didn't meet with them, or fine that he lied about it?

More of the former than the latter, but the latter is really of little consequence.

Why just the GOP base? Are you suggesting that liberals are too cowardly to stand up to these phonies? Only a liberal movement could spring up out of a total lie. Where is the 'Hands up don't shoot movement' when you need them? Oh that's right. This is the same crowd. So no, no one with an ounce of integrity should pander to this group. Liberals have no integrity so it makes sense that they would pander to them. Most republicans would cave in for fear of being called racists by integrity-free leftists. So hopefully someone will stand up to them, but I don't hold out much hope.

Republican's efforts to broaden the base can be summed up as...

"Let's not but say we did".

I have a problem with this group. They are offensive, rude, disruptive, and their founder is a lying drama queen only interested in recognition.

How does Bush compare to Hillary?

“Respectfully, if that is your position, then I will talk only to white people about how we are going to deal with the very real problems,” Clinton snapped back, eliciting a wide-eyed look of horror from Daunasia Yancey, the founder of Black Lives Matter in Boston who was standing directly to Hillary Clinton’s left.

Jeb must be scared of losing Black voters.

I haven't watched the video, but there is nothing surprising here. BLM, pushed buttons and Hillary Clinton snapped. It should be no surprise to anyone that she's an unskilled politician. I have no doubt Bill Clinton would have discussed the situation in a way that would have the activists feeling better about the situation because Bill Clinton is a skilled politician who can at least pretend he cares about all people. Hillary Clinton let's everyone be known that she couldn't care less about certain segments of the population.

So, from what I've gathered here, from the reports cited, the Bush campaign claims he met with some representatives of the Black Lives Matter movement and the Huffington Post claims he didn't and the usual suspects are adamant that Bush lied. I seem to recall a story in the media this week about a representative of the Black Lives Matter movement accepting a scholarship yet lying to Oprah Winfrey about his race - reminders of Rachel Dolezal and NAACP.

I'm biased, but I'm not prepared to believe the proven liars over the guy who the Huffington Post says is lying.

No people who were at the meeting are claiming that Bush lied. It's an important distinction.

People from Black Lives Matter who spoke to the Huffington Post. Considering the source, I wouldn't believe they were even at the meeting, let alone told the truth about it.

Hooks said that while he respects Bush for reaching out, he would not characterize the people at the meeting as Black Lives Matter activists. "It's a little disingenuous," he said.

The private meeting was about fifteen minutes long, according to those who attended. Goynes-Brown told HuffPost that the meeting did not focus on the Black Lives Matter movement, although attendees did discuss criminal justice issues. Goynes-Brown said she strongly supports the movement, but would not call herself an activist.
So you're saying these people are lying just to make Bush look bad?

It also shows that she is more than willing to pass laws to push her agenda rather than what the people want.

Where was he lying

The quote they gave is that the Bush Campaign met with *advocates of the movement*

Then later the HP points out that he didn't meet with any ACTIVISTS.

Well, his campaign didn't say they met with ACTIVISTS, they said they met with advocates of the group. Which could absolutely be an accurate way of describing a staffer from an anti-poverty organization if said organization or said staffer supports the BLM group.

I don't really see a lie, I see a politician being a politician and massaging the truth. You can be upset about that, but be upset for what it really is.

if this was the case then they would be doing more to stop black on black violence which is much more pervasive.

that would lessen the false outrage though.
