Under Senate Bill 1's provisions, a ban would be implemented on drive-thru voting or casting a ballot from inside a vehicle unless participating in curbside voting due to a disability. A ban would also be placed on overnight voting, requiring polls to be open a minimum of nine hours from between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Election officials would also be required to install a video surveillance system that records vote-counting activities, with a livestream made available to the public in counties with 100,000 residents or more. Those in large counties would also be required to install tracking software to monitor "all input and activity" on electronic devices used to count votes. Beginning January 1, 2024, equipment that does not disable or remove any wireless connectivity capability would be prohibited from use in tabulating votes.

SB 1 would also allow partisan poll watchers to observe election activity inside polling places and vote-counting centers as well as during curbside voting that takes place inside a vehicle. It would also make it a crime to deny access to a poll watcher.

In addition, voters would be required to include a driver's license number or the last four digits of a Social Security number on a vote-by-mail application and the envelope containing their ballot. Individuals who help voters cast their ballot, due to language or physical needs, must fill out a document listing their name, address, relationship to the voter, and whether they're being paid by a candidate or political committee. Those who drive three or more people to the polls would also be required to fill out a similar form unless all vehicle occupants are family members.

The secretary of state will also be required to work with the Department of Public Safety to provide data on a monthly basis from the existing statewide computerized voter registration list to be used for verification of citizenship status on voter registration applications.
So, these provisions look totally reasonable to me…

How many different poll watchers are there going to be standing over the shoulder of someone counting ballots? Not everyone is a republican or a democrat.
Does counting have to stop if one of them goes to the potty?
Does a City bus driver have to fill out a form if they are dropping off multiple people at the polls?
A "video surveillance system" recording activities..Texas has like 250 counties....if one of them goes down and the results aren't what you want...are you going to scream bloody murder....again?
You guys don't trust the software that was installed already. If/when you lose another election....are you going to baselessly complain that the "tracking software" was corrupted too?

You left out that voting on Sunday was banned.

You also left out the ridiculous accusations about voting from cars and one ballot collection box per county--Harris County has like 3 million people.

A bumper sticker is electioneering.....really?

So, it’s true then…This bill tightens security and integrity of an election, and you don’t want that, so you holler “Jim Crow”…

So, these provisions look totally reasonable to me…
Do you live in Texas? If so, and if you don’t like what they’re doing then vote them out in the next election. And if republicans succeed in all their voter suppression efforts then you probably won’t need to.

What in the provisions is “voter suppression “?
You love to use those buzz words, but I don’t think you know what’s in the bill.

They voted to arrest them they can't ever come back without facing the music. Lol

They don't want any restrictions on voting if you do that then people that shouldn't vote probably won't. It's not about anything they say it's about.

Given that there are restrictions on what a person can wear while at a polling location, this isn't really beyond the pale.

Yeah it’s called electioneering…can’t wear political garb within a voting location. What’s wrong with that?

Nothing, really. I was giving an example why the bumper sticker comment isn't some hare-brained crackpot notion.

A bumper sticker is going to change someone's mind? Really?

Making people fill out forms for driving someone to the polls for one example. On what planet do you imagine this prevents fraud--it has nothing to do with what happens in a polling place.
Easy, it prevents them from visiting multiple polling sites. Makes it easier to detect that.

THEY always leave out the inconvenient points of why these voting laws actually make voting harder to vote, NOT safer.

The bill IS anti-democracy.

It will not be allowed to pass.

If Abbott arrests leges, Biden will arrest Abbott.
