President Bush has now backed down from his stance that he can secretly wiretap Americans without a warrant. A secret FISA court will now be monitoring the program, and warrants will once again be part of the process. This decision came yesterday, on the eve of Roberto Gonzalez' appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee to try and defend the program without warrants. Bush administration officials say that they will now abide by the FISA law.

A complete flip-flop from his signing statement, but the right move.... finally. Another card in the Bush house of cards falls.

Article is here.

A flip-flop?
Say it ain't so.
A Republican! Flip-flop! :o

That's a relief, I can finally call my buddy Mohammad in the middle east and use our code language in which "I hate America" replaces "hello" and "Where are the goods?" means "how are the kids?"

I don't see what this wiretapping could possibly do, even if it was justified. I mean someone dumb enough to call his terrorist buddies from America and not use some sort of code language probably is too dumb to hijack a plane...
