As a force within the party, Palin has gone from 60 to zero within the span of a single presidential cycle. “There was a ton of potential there, and it’s conceivable that there could be a second act, but it’s a little hard to see it now,” said Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol, who championed Sarah from Alaska as a potential VP pick in 2008.

Ed Rollins, who managed Ronald Reagan’s campaign, and, more recently that of Michele Bachmann — said plainly: “Her moment in the sun … has gone.” Being a talking head … was not something that sustained her as a viable candidate,” he added. “She’s a personality in the same way the Kardashian family is.”

Palin’s downward trajectory is almost in direct proportion to her rise after the 2008 cycle

And yet, 5 years down the road, the libs still can't get her out of their head.:lamo

I would vote for her if she ran just here the screaming in Washington.

The endgame for her was to get paid. She did just that.

Well, she IS just about your favorite subject, so she's got YOU hooked, anyway.

I find very curious the interest in Palin and wonder if some don't find her threatening. I mean, if you don't like someone (Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Maxine Waters, cerebral titan Sheila Jackson Lee, etc.), why fixate on them?

As long as someone pays attention to her she will come running for the paycheck. it is as simple as that. She is a dumbass hick who got big and now doesn't know how to keep it. When she realizes she has no choices she will be begging for any spot she can get. it is really sad when a kardashian is superior to you in the media. I find the sarah palin show a guilty pleasure, sort of like watching old jerry springer episodes. You can't even create a parody this good, sorry tina. I just cannot figure out why the reps keep hanging onto these losers. between her, Rove, and romney it is time to take out the garbage. You don't have to give up the idea, just put a new face on it, and train your next talking monkey a lot better. Or don't teach your monkey's to talk. it seems they get in trouble when they talk. Clint eastwood worked with some monkeys with personality, maybe he could hook the republican party up with a cute and silent one? It is certainly better than reminding america of your biggest failures.

how to explain this? You know when you have a comedy with a villain everyone hates, but they keep on getting hurt and failing? that is sarah palin. She is annoying, crass, and a true scumbag so when she gets hurt it is amusing because you want to see that. tell me you did not laugh at the horse scene in police academy. America will hold onto her just on the small chance that one day she will get hit by a buss or rob a convenience store with Dana Plato. We don't care how it happens, we just know it is going to be awesome to see when it does. I have to say watching her try to struggle against the slow decline of her fame and dreams is truly a great sight. Now we see the sharks circling her crippled career. By next CPAC they are probably going to have her doing the BJ room for her invite. Some people watch honey boo boo for their crazy, and some of us watch Palin.

Palin is giving the longest speech at CPAC tonight. She is in the news these days. It is an inconvenient truth for republicans, youbetcha!

I just cannot believe they banned one of their more charismatic and popular stars from the convention for talking to Obama, yet have romney and palin speaking. It is not like they are against flip flopping for an advantage because they love mittens to death and he changes faces more than Christie eats donuts. Palin is one of the biggest causes for party abandonment. Even if they are not going to let Chris speak they should find someone more charismatic from the party for the longest spot. I know, i hear the chair from eastwood's speech will be there. Best CPAC speech ever!

...because the mainstream media is in the Liberals' back pockets. They know what you hate, and hate sells.

It is an inconvenient truth for republicans, youbetcha!
...and the predictable hate lemmings eat it up like starving pit bulls on a meat wagon.

Her Name is now a Punchline
and she is laughing all the way to the bank

sarah is an opportunist
she supported the woman who ran against her mother in law
she stepped on the republican incumbent to run successfully for governor
she and her family exploited the campaign coffers while she was the VP candidate
she resigned from office when she saw she could make more money giving speeches and appearing on tv
she saw the tea party needed a national leader and she assumed that role
look at the way she exploited her special needs child for political purposes; she likes to assume the role of underdog and that appeals to the underdogs who comprise the tea party

caribou barbie will never be found smart, but she is politically savvy
but get her out of her echo chamber and she is lost

i know this should be in conspiracy thread section...

but is it possible the real inner sanctum wanted a democratic black leader for america's image world wide..

and they knew if they used McCain and Sara to run against him it would be impossible for the GOP to win.

i mean wow, just the tasteful factor alone should tell you i'm onto something here.

i think another 8 years of the democrats after obama is finished his presidency will afford America to produce some real viable intelligent republicans that will be worth voting for.

i am telling you this ..there is no one presently in the GOP worthy of the presidency...

america needs to wait it out...and then maybe some good ole fashioned Republican might , just may be the ticket!

12 years isn;t so long to wait...

congress will turn democrat next elections and then obama gets to finally do what he said he wants to do...

painful for some ...yes....but it's inevitable...

Yep, she's threatening, that she ran for president in 2012......oh wait......that didn't happen.

Much like a clown at a circus garners some onlookers, so does Palin.

She's not threatening, it's more like schadenfreude...the GOP embraced her as veep without adequate vetting and she proved herself to be a regional politician with a vacuous personality and ambitions well above her capabilities, with too much ego to feel shame.

Not to mention inviting a birther like Trump. Seriously, if I didn't know better i would have thought we were watching a SNL script.

I think it's important to note that CPAC isn't a Republican convention as much as it is a "Conservative-Republican" convention. That said, it doesn't surprise me that they'd eat one of their own (excuse the pun) by not inviting Gov. Christi. Nonetheless, I have to say I told you so...

I said it right before the RNC that if Romney wasn't able to pull all factions of his party together ahead of the convention it would begin to fracture. And fracture is has!

One good thing to come out of this CPAC meeting for Sarah Palin at least is she gave what she considered to be the "soft" segment of her party its second tongue lashing. If you recall, she did the same thing immediately following the Iowa Caucaus only this time she didn't hold back.

I don't know if she's all for her own self interest or what, but one thing is for sure: Sarah Palin certainly knows how to market herself.

All sociopaths are savvy and successful for a time. They leave a lot of victims in their wake, however.

Her biggest victim - the GOP! Oh, the humanity...

A freak show is easily marketed. Just because you can make money doing certain things doesn't mean you should. I'm with tererun about her prospects of working the BJ room next year.
