As a newbie, I'd like to say hello to everyone.

I enjoy a good debate and respect those of like mind. However, I have no patience with "soundbite experts" who just say something for the sake of saying it and not actually participating.

My pet pieves are:

1 - The United States Military
2 - Homeland Security
3 - Illegal Aliens
4 - POW MIA issues
5 - The underfunding of the Veterans Administration
6 - Those who say they support our troops and do not support their mission

to name a few.

I intend to participate, and will bury the opposition with sources. To those of you who might disagree with a source that I use, I will say, prove the information stated false instead of sluffing it off simply because you don't like the source itself. That is after all part of debating - right ?????

I hope to find a home here as I have spent the past three years on other debate sites, and grow weary of :smash: convoluted stupidity

Welcome to Debate Politics

I love your dislike for ad hominums and agree completely that the source of an assertion does not have absolute bearing on whether it is true or false. I look forward to seeing your sources.

We have our share of "convolution" and "stupidity". But we also have possibly the most un-biased mod team of any forum. At times, we have conservative mods defending liberal posters and liberal mods defending conservative posters and vice-versa depending on the context of the situation or controversy. So that is something you can look forward too.

It's up to you to decide who you are politically aligned with. But right off the top of my head, the posters you will find of your ilk are:
  • Navy Pride
  • Trajan Octavian Titus (TOT)
  • Proud American (although he hasn't posted in a while)
  • pstdkid
These are just a few that happen to share your political perspective in some degree or another.

And on the other side of the aisle which you will probably find yourself arguing with is:
  • Me
So for now, welcome and glad your aboard.

Hello and welcome.

Were you known as Grim Reaper on another site?

Thank you. This should prove interesting.

Convoluted stupidity can be found all over America 24/7/365(6). As far as your description of the mod-team, sounds fair and balanced.

First off, I am 101% American, and I chose to show that politically I am a Conservative Republican. However, regardless of anyone's political affiliation being an American comes FIRST in my book.

There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100 percent. Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.
Theodore Roosevelt

I can see from your use of words that you desire to take a:thinking "debate" to the next level and:argue "argue" - and here I thought this was a debate site

Anyway, see you on the threads :2wave:

What leads you to make that assumption ?????

Because this Grim Reaper fellow described himself as a 'Fiercely proud American'.
He loved to post stuff from various slanted sources, like Drudge Report etc, Fox etc and he was also a retired USAF veteran.

If this is not you. Then have you ever been on a site called FreeConservatives?

Anyway just curious. I'll see you on the boards.

Also this fellow was a habitual user of emoticons.

Well, consider that in America there are hundreds of thousands of "Fiercely Proud Americans", who I would conclude would also be USAF Veterans.

Personally I do not use DR as a source, although others might.

Also this fellow was a habitual user of emoticons.

As far as Smiles (Emoticons) are concerned - The Admins / owners of DP have made them available for use by anyone - right ?? So, since they went to all that trouble, it's only respectful to use them - right ???

A courteous welcome to Debate Politics. A note about sources. I don't completely agree that the source of information doesn't negate the validity of that information. I do find that if the information is accurate, finding a non-slanted source empowers the strength of that information more then if it comes from a slanted source. I also post a lot of substantiation for my arguments, so I look forward to 'discussions' with you.

Thank you. As far as "unbiased" sources is concerned - it's kind of difficult to find these now-a-days, especially with the country almost split down the middle politically.

In any case, we shall see what we shall see when we meet :2wave:
