My name is Mike. =) I really like to debate about things... I'll debate about basically anything but politics (*sigh* pretty ironic, I am on a politics debate site =P) because I can't keep abreast of the news, and I think all humans are too flawed to debate about anyway. Better to debate about science and morality, methinks.

I'm 13 and from a small town in Ohio. I generally have strong views on everything (except for politics, as noted above). I'm an English freak and a militant atheist who belongs to the Brights' Net. I'm gay, too. I find solace in debating; I think debating is good because you clarify your own beliefs, not just with others, but with yourself too. Also, because you can learn about other people's beliefs, and possibly change your own.

I have brown hair and brown eyes. I'm average for a 13-year old: slightly tall and, sadly, I have *gag* acne. Uh, I'm an Irish dancer, too. I've been doing it for about five years, since I was eight. That's basically I have to say about myself.

This place looks really cool, and to abuse a saying, hope to see you all around.

Also, to anyone who knows:

Am I correct in assuming that 300 x 115 is okay?

Well, there are other things to debate about besides politics, here.
You can debate about being gay; also about God.
You'll find plenty of cause for righteous moral outrage, if that's what you're looking for. Since you'll be debating the pro-gay, anti-god side of things, I'll back you.
Irish dancing is cool; I read about it in that memoir Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt.
You read that? You ought to.
It addresses being 13, having acne, Irish dancing, and gayness, among many other things.

=O. I love righteous moral outrage.
My mom's read that book. I checked it out from the library for her, but I never got to read it. She holed it away to keep for herself. She apparently liked it very much though, I'll check it out next time I go to the library. Though I don't think anything can beat the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for sheer perfection.

And ooh, I like your views. So far. XD I like meeting like-minded people. It makes me happy; there's no like-minded people like me here. They're all catholics, and the bad kind: the anti-gay, anti-other beliefs kind. And hardly anyone was gay. One teacher quit because he was.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. If everyone here is like you, I think I'll really enjoy it =)

A courteous welcome to Debate Politics. I have already read some of your posts and you seem very intelligent and well-spoken for someone as young as you are. :) And I can relate to the acne thing...had been a sufferer for 25 years, though much better, now.

And not only do your views seem to match up well with mine, but there is no better book then the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and it's 4 sequels.

You will find here that there are people that equally agree as disagree with you. Depending on the subject some are more outspoken than others. As 1069 stated above, there are many things to debate about than politics. But, that is a double edged sword as I believe *everything* relates back to politics in some way.

It is always nice when young adults sign up and give their views on subjects.

Welcome to Debate Politics! :)

Hey thanks guys =) Everyone here sounds awesome. And yay, a fellow Hitchhiker's fan! I finally bought the movie a few weeks ago. I think they could have done more with the Infinite Improbability Drive though...

Anyway. Yes. Thanks for all the welcomes and such. Everyone sounds great =D

:2wave: I'm Obama.
What grade are you in?
I'm in high school, so we're not far apart in age.

Welcome on Mike...:2wave: You'll grow up fast here..:2razz:
So do you mean like "Riverdancing"?

Yeah, kind of. It's less worldly though. Riverdance is vaguely Russian and Flamenco mixed with Irish dance.

I'm in the eighth grade but I take Algebra 1 Honours instead of eighth grade maths.

Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy.

Sincerely,

Simon
