Below is the most recent health newsletter that is automatically emailed to me weekly. I find that it is so interesting I wait for it and open it immediately and read top to bottom...

I'm not soliciting that you join this site but simply want to introduce it to you... the source is NewMax which is a conservative mailing list and this is but one of the newsletters they send me.

I subscribe to left wing and right wing newsletters so I can keep up with the enemies strategy so again I'm not soliciting you to join. Here's the clip with subscription info at the bottom if you are interested. Selected items sniped to limit word count.

1. Humility Linked to Success

Name recognition is the goal of every politician this election season — marketing yourself and your achievements in a positive, assertive way is how you succeed in life, right? Not necessarily, according to a study by Baylor University in Texas.

“If you are humbled by something, some would think you would get depressed and question your self-worth. But our findings indicate that humility is a positive quality associated with self-esteem, well-being and even performance benefits,” said Dr. Wade Rowatt, head of the team that studied 200 college students.

Athletes, in particular, were researched. Nearly every top athlete in every sport was associated with humility, according to Rowatt. Those traits may influence things such as the way they prepare for a game to how they respect their opponents.

In another study, Rowatt examined whether humility is associated with higher academic performance. The preliminary findings indicated that college students who showed more humble traits got higher grades than those who were arrogant and narcissistic, reports NewsWise.

Rowatt defines humility as a psychological quality characterized by being more modest, down-to-earth, and respectful, rather than arrogant, immodest, or egotistical. This conception of humility implies that one acknowledges mistakes, realizes limits, avoids bragging, and is respectful of others.

2. White Bread Raises Risk of Kidney Cancer

Eating white bread can substantially raise your risk of developing kidney cancer. Scientists have found that people who eat five slices of white bread a day, which is easy to do when you have toast for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch, double their risk of developing renal cell carcinoma, when compared to those who only ate one and a half slices daily.

Researchers from the Institute of Pharmacological Research in Milan, Italy studied the diets of more than 2,300 people, and found a clear link between eating white bread and developing renal cancer. But those who ate diets heavy in vegetables, meat and poultry had a lower risk.

They believe the reason could be that white breads are high on the Glycemic index. Foods high on the index, which include refined breads and cereals, set off sharp rises in blood sugar which releases insulin. In response, insulin releases chemicals that are believed to feed the growth of cancer cells.

Lead researcher Dr. Francesca Bravi suggests eating whole grains and avoiding highly processed and refined foods. Whole grains have a lower Glycemic Index and release sugar into the blood stream more slowly. “On the basis of the study we can also suggest reducing the consumption of refined cereals and increase that of whole grain ones,” she said.

Almost 32,000 people are diagnosed each year with renal cell carcinoma, the most common form of kidney cancer in the United States.

4. Strawberries Boost Memory

If you don't remember your mother telling you to eat your fruits and vegetables, it may very well be because you just shoved them around on your plate and pretended to eat them — it turns out they contain a substance that jumpstarts your memory.

The substance is a flavonoid called fisetin, which is found in strawberries and other fruits and vegetables, and it stimulates and facilitates the development of long-term memories, such as the memory of your loving momma shaking her finger in your face and exhorting you to eat right.

The information about fisetin and memory enhancement is in a new report released by the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, and it should come as good news for the one-third of people in the U.S. over age 60 who suffer from memory problems.

The study shows that fisetin protects and promotes survival of neurons cultured in the laboratory, and also boosts memory in mice. Lead author of the study, Pamela Maher, Ph.D., said, "The good news is that fisetin is readily available in strawberries but the bad news is that because of its natural product status there may be little financial interest in getting it into human clinical trials for diseases associated with memory loss such as Alzheimer's, where the treatment options are currently very limited."

Fisetin is also found in onions, tomatoes, oranges, apples, persimmons, kiwifruit, peaches, and grapes.

5. Personalized Cancer Vaccine Destroys Cancer

Unique, targeted therapies that stimulate the body’s immune system to destroy cancer cells without harming healthy ones may be the cancer treatment of the future.

Scientists are creating “anti-vaccines,” which are different from regular vaccines, such as flu, because they are used to treat cancer, not prevent it. Anti-vaccines are made from the cells of a patient’s tumor and contain antigens that look like structures on the patient’s cancer cells. If the body can be made to attack the vaccine antigens, it will also attack the cancer cells while leaving healthy cells intact. Researchers believe that once the immune system begins attacking the cancer cells, they might get even better results by giving “booster” shots.

One ongoing trial involved treating victims of non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL), a cancer of the lymphatic system, with an anti-vaccine called BiovaxlD. Patients chosen for the study were diagnosed with NHL and treated with conventional chemotherapy. All had initially gone into remission but had relapsed at an average of 17 months.

Patients then received the BiovaxlD cancer vaccine. The vaccine caused a cancer-fighting immune response in 80 percent of them and they are still in remission, almost three years after receiving the vaccine.

Dr. Dan Longo of the national Institutes of Health said the results were “remarkable” and suggested the study could lead to a cure for NHL. Some 57,000 Americans are diagnosed each year with NHL and 25,000 die.

7. The Supplements You Must Have to Stay Alive

Pharmaceutical giants are terrified by an explosion of research showing that nutritional supplementation and dietary changes can actually cure or dramatically improve a growing list of diseases — without the use of prescription medications.

These pharmaceutical corporations are even more frightened by the fact that natural remedies are often safer and more effective than the expensive drugs they are trying to hawk.

Sadly, most physicians either know nothing about natural remedies or simply ignore them. Most early indoctrination in medical school never covered natural medicine — and most doctors never bother to read any of the abundant scientific literature regarding nutrients.

But here are some of the most valuable nutritional and health-enhancing resources that nature has to offer.

CoQ10

The first is Co-enzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a naturally occurring substance present within every cell in the body. Without it, humans would die. Its main function is to generate life-giving energy to cells.

Both clinical and experimental studies have shown that a number of diseases cause CoQ10 to fluctuate significantly and that the level of CoQ10 in cells is extremely dependent on diet.

Many foods contain CoQ10 — especially meats. But because so many people (especially the elderly) are lacking in vitamins and minerals, CoQ10 deficiency is very common.

Extreme stress or disease can also make this vital nutrient fall to dangerously low levels in the body. Many studies have also shown that a wide array of prescription medications can lower CoQ10 levels.

In particular, statins are notorious for depleting CoQ10 from the body. It has even been suggested that this is the cause of the fatal disorder triggered by these cholesterol inhibitors.

But many other drugs cause similar depletion, including many blood pressure medications, anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, birth control pills, and a growing list of other prescription medications.

Apart from its function as an energy producer, CoQ10 is also a powerful antioxidant. In fact, it is the first line of defense against the oxidation of LDL cholesterol — which is the main reaction in atherosclerosis.

CoQ10 can also remove dangerous levels of iron from cells. Excess iron can lead to the development of cancer in cells, and is also a major cause of strokes and heart attacks, as well as cancer.

In fact, heart biopsies of patients with cardiac disease have shown CoQ10 deficiency in 50 percent to 75 percent of those examined. Additional studies have shown deficiencies in people suffering from other cardiac conditions, such as mitral valve stenosis, angina, cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart disease.

As important as CoQ10 is, there are three other supplements vital to your health and a long life.
