Often, political factions are about disagreements about issues and policies. In the revolutionary war, people could take sides. In the civil war, people could take sides. People could be for or against civil rights, or Social Security, or the Iraq wars, or the moon landing, or tax rates, or many things.

But when you try to put your finger on what is is that trump's cult is 'fighting for', you can't. If you ask, they'll parrot some marketing talking points, but they're meaningless and vapid - either saying nothing more than 'our side because it's our side', or claiming some principle they'll immediately renounce as soon as it's inconvenient.

It's more similar to asking a sports team fan why they are for the home team - you don't get a rational reason so much, as just 'because it's the team for their city'.

They don't really stand for essentially anything, leaving Democrats to try to make up an agenda for them. "Must be racism". "Well, ignorance plays a big role." "It's lies from Fox". There just isn't really any there, there.

You can see this when you watch them like puppy dogs and trained seals, with big smiles and big claps for trump at his rallies - it doesn't matter what he says, chants of 'lock her up' are fine - with an example being when he was ranting about shower water pressure or something, and they ate it up. It didn't matter what he said, just that he said something to rant about and they could cheer. That was it.

You don't really see them make good arguments, say things they really care about. They go through the motions of parroting. But they seem more like nihilistic cult members. They just revel in being in the cult. Whatever trump says is fine. It's not really a 'political faction'.

Really, their political message seems it can be boiled down to "nuh uh".

For example, they do love to attack Democrats for being anti-trump, attacking Democrats for saying "orange man bad", as if it's Democrats who don't have policies, when theirs is simply "Democrats bad". Sometimes, it's that simple, that all they want is an authoritarian to follow, and they're happy, and that's it.

No, it's Democrat policies are bad.

Own the libs. That's all that matters.

Really, why then for the past 150 years when we have had Dem president we have had greater economic growth than when we have had GOP presidents. Why did Clinton have to fix Bush Sr's recession and Obama had to fix Bush jr's almost depression and once again we have a GOP president and we are in a recession. Can you explain that to me? Just so you know I have an Economics degree and an MBA from one of the top 20 business schools in the nation.

Still desperate for a wedge issue I see...

Maybe you should review the Democratic Party platform and start some massive edits?

Just say'n...

And Carter fixing the economy from Nixon/Ford, and JFK fixing the economy from Eisenhower, and of course the biggest one, FDR fixing the economy from the Republican Great Depression.

Who cares about the Democratic Party platform? Nobody gives a damn about that. Trump is the whole issue. Trump. Getting that immoral fraudulent con man out of the White House is the whole purpose of the election.

TDS on parade!

Maybe you should consider that not everyone believes they lies you've told yourselves so often, you no longer know that you made them up?

Trump isn't great, but he's not that bad either. Obama, he was bad. We'll be paying for his abuses and crimes for 100 years!

The Clinton's were bad too. I could spend hours giving specifics on the evil act by both of them.

Go ahead, pull up the Dems platform on issues, and ask yourself if those changes are really going to make your life better, or worse?

Notice also, that there really isn't much difference from any of the Dem candidates. Lock Step Group Think! We will allow no Freedom of Thought or Policy!

Nothing at all "Liberal", Free Thinking, Centrist, Co-operative or Open Minded in the whole damn thing!

Good Gods, it is like the Communist Manifesto implemented by the BORG!

Yeah, G.M. Trump has to go. Even his supporters should be able to see the damage he's doing. The guy didn't even shoot straight about the virus. I thought Americans were allowed to know the truth on matters of life and death, so we can make our own decisions with the actual data:

Trump is an immoral fraudulent con man. Those are facts. Your opinions don't mean squat next to those facts.

Your TDS must be clouding your vision. There are plenty of actual "issues and policies" one which they disagree with Democrats. Those issues are nothing new.

You are addicted to believing the Trump hating bull****.

You see, you don't know anything about Trump supporters except what you get from the Trump hating media and their echo chamber and everything they say is just as full of nonsense as this drivel you've spouted here.

The solution, of course, is for you to go cold turkey and give that **** up. It's hard...I know...but seriously, you WILL be a better person when you abandon your addiction.

Well said. But they won't. Soros is paying them well to spout this malarkey.

By the propaganda nature and appeals, it is clear that they don't really believe the half of it.

And they know that Biden is not the real candidate either, it is Harris. Just another con job on their part.

And Harris is one scary candidate.

Meh, Most Americans now see through the scam and know better. This election, like the last, will be one helluva surprise for the far-lefties.

Maybe you should review the Democratic Party Platform and tell us, specifically what you don't like about it. To the OP's point, it's hard to do with the Republican platform; there isn't one.

Well there you go, you have just projected the entire OP's premise upon the leftist democrats....tks, as they always accuse others of what they are guilty of, lol.

Yea that’s all that matters when our country is burning and a pandemic is raging.

What is wrong with you guys?

What does Trump have to do with the pandemic? He provided everything needed, made the single most important decision by stopping travel from china, and showed tremendous leadership by keeping people from panicking.

The country is burning because of the democrats not Trump. Trump offered help and they all refused minus one and that fire was put out in hours.

People like to say Trump foments hate. Sadely the hate is coming from the left. They are filled with it. Their rhetoric violent from the start. I watched Maxine Waters tell a crowd to get in republican faces and tell them they aren't welcome here anymore. You see citizens wearing trump apparel being attacked. You see democrats attacking folks who refuse to put up a fist supporting BLM. Finally you see them in the streets burning and looting. Destroying people's lives and livelihoods.

You see them calling trump a killer for people dying from a virus. Same people call cuomo a hero when his decision to put sick elderly back into the assisted living centers killed over 6000 old folks. Politics pure politics. Willing to use anything to win. Sickening.

Now it seems what they started might be about to blow up in their faces.

Those who are loyal supporters of President of the United States of America Donald Trump are neither more ignorant nor more stupid nor more savvy nor more intelligent than I am and, by extension, you are, Gentle Reader. [Disclaimer: I'm best defined as a secular humanist.] Much of their visible response at a rally is similar to that of fans at a WWF(c) wrestling exhibition or, for that matter, fans at a professional football game between teams with a long history of rivalry. We certainly wouldn't separate those fans from ourselves and consider them significantly different.

With that out of the way, what does really hold the Pro-President Trump folks together? I offer that it's a general belief that the government does not represent their own needs, concerns, and prejudices.* President Donald Trump, a master showman, has tapped into this. He is, in essence, their collective voice. Seen another way, he's their banner, as much as a MAGA hat.

That President Donald Trump has personal characteristics -- flaws, if you please -- which make him highly susceptible to manipulation is a separate issue, but one of importance.

Regards, stay safe 'n well. Remember the Big 3: masks, hand washing and physical distancing.

* 'Prejudice', as used here, is non-pejorative.

It's not that weird. Trump changes his mind about things so often and his cult just follows whatever Trump said last, so they have to change their mind all the time too.

They aren't even in the right order. Warren is way left of both Booker and Harris, and Harris is of those four most to the right. People for some reason see her as left wing of the party, probably because she's a woman of color, when she's really just slightly left of center.

THe thing that strikes me whenever I watch Trump’s rallies, or his surrogates like Navarro on TV, is I have no idea who it is they’re speaking to anymore. It’s all just trolling and “no puppet you’re the puppet.” NFL players standing, not standing. THe dirty Mueller team that exonerated him but are also crooked. Hillary. Obama. Joe is sleepy hahaha I’m cute!

No idea what they want other than power.
