Often, political factions are about disagreements about issues and policies. In the revolutionary war, people could take sides. In the civil war, people could take sides. People could be for or against civil rights, or Social Security, or the Iraq wars, or the moon landing, or tax rates, or many things.
But when you try to put your finger on what is is that trump's cult is 'fighting for', you can't. If you ask, they'll parrot some marketing talking points, but they're meaningless and vapid - either saying nothing more than 'our side because it's our side', or claiming some principle they'll immediately renounce as soon as it's inconvenient.
It's more similar to asking a sports team fan why they are for the home team - you don't get a rational reason so much, as just 'because it's the team for their city'.
They don't really stand for essentially anything, leaving Democrats to try to make up an agenda for them. "Must be racism". "Well, ignorance plays a big role." "It's lies from Fox". There just isn't really any there, there.
You can see this when you watch them like puppy dogs and trained seals, with big smiles and big claps for trump at his rallies - it doesn't matter what he says, chants of 'lock her up' are fine - with an example being when he was ranting about shower water pressure or something, and they ate it up. It didn't matter what he said, just that he said something to rant about and they could cheer. That was it.
You don't really see them make good arguments, say things they really care about. They go through the motions of parroting. But they seem more like nihilistic cult members. They just revel in being in the cult. Whatever trump says is fine. It's not really a 'political faction'.
Really, their political message seems it can be boiled down to "nuh uh".
For example, they do love to attack Democrats for being anti-trump, attacking Democrats for saying "orange man bad", as if it's Democrats who don't have policies, when theirs is simply "Democrats bad". Sometimes, it's that simple, that all they want is an authoritarian to follow, and they're happy, and that's it.
