It could be to a candidate, a campaign, a party, a political action group, etc. I get e-mails soliciting contributions fairly freqently, but I've never donated. I have a rich, conservative uncle in southern Oregon who made the maximum contribution to multiple candidates every cycle. My boss made what I perceived to be a big donation at the time to John Kerry in 2004.

I never really saw the point.
 
I donated to Lauren Boebert's opponents because she gets on my last nerve. I don't even live in her state.
 
I've donated since I was young. These days I donate the maximum annual amount which is $1,750.
 
Ive donated to Act Blue, the ACLU and Bernie Sanders.
 
Nah. I doubt my donations would matter. Though if Bernie had been the 2016 nominee, I probably would have. He mostly runs on smaller donors.

Hillary didn't need my money. Plus, despite already having thoroughly soured on Republican voters, I still could not believe that people were *SO* stupid and evil that they'd back Trump. Whoops. Turns out people are even worse than I thought.

I have never donated money to a politician. I have signed a petition to help someone get on the ballot.
 
I donated a hundred bucks to my sister's campaign for town council. She won.

Otherwise I stick to my policy of not sending money to people who have more money than I have.
 
You gotta be kidding.

With the amount of money being thrown at campaigns I would rather give the few bucks I have to charity.

I'm curious about this too. I don't believe you can deduct political contributions from your taxable income.

I'm a Texans season ticket holder.

Year ago when Houston was trying to get an NFL team following the Oilers' departure, the city paying for a new stadium was justified by the argument that the tax hikes were only on hotels and car rentals. It wouldn't affect Houstonians. The counter argument from opponents of the stadium was that new tax income could be used on something else. It's a good argument.
 
Those corrupt scumbags already use and lose enough of our money... no ****ing way I would donate anything.
 
I personally believe that private funds should not be allowed in election campaigns. We'd be better off.

Since our Congress people are not likely to do away with them, I play the game we're playing. I make modest contributions to many candidates and causes.

I've donated to local candates only. I've never donated to candidates in state or federal campaigns.

I sent Arizona's Senator Mark Kelly some money after Musk called him a traitor.
I don't live in Arizona.
 
I’ve contributed time and money to local political candidates of late. I’ve donated to causes, like stopping all the warehouse building around here of late. I’ve been a member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation since its inception.
